Thread: PC version won't update launcher for 3.4?! :(

Thanks a lot, guys, but downloading the whole game again would take me hours and I just installed/patched it three days ago. I tried MrDanger's workaround and it didn't fix it, so I guess I'll just wait for the devs to do something about it.

i was havin the same problems i got to about 525 MB, then error pop up.

i tried all the non VPN solutions here, still a no go.

put in a support ticket, but yeah, don't feel like waitin round for a reply.

so i tried the VPN, it worked but was slow, like 10 hours + slow. i remembered that at points the launcher will save progress of the download. so i let it get to about 1050 MB. Canceled the download, shut down launcher, disconnected and shut down VPN, restarted launcher on my normal connection and BINGO!!! it saved the progress and continued downloadin.

i think it may hangs at a certain amount and the launcher saves it somehow, at least that what it seems like to me. i'm thinkin if ya can use the VPN long enough to get it past your hang point ya can manually cancel, shutdown Launcher and VPN. then restart with your normal settings.

Not sure if this problem is related but.. I can't find a working solution anywhere.

When I run the launcher now, it's just a black window with the launcher version at the top. which is 2016.9.12 etc etc. Did the launcher update break something? Is that even the most recent launcher version?

I found some old info from over the years of this problem but none of the solutions (resetting IE, resetting router, removed router etc) have solved it. Also tried this "BootVersionCheckMode" thing and nothing changes.

I just tried the following and it worked for me, allowing me to update the launcher and download patch 3.4.

Navigate to your game install location on your drive, locate two folders: boot, game. Right click each folder > properties > click the 'read only ' box so that the field is empty. ( No tick or little square).

Launch the game through the ffxivboot.exe and it, hopefully, will connect you to the launcher and thus patch the game.

Now when go to download get files 30413 and 25008 fails to download then client closes. not sure how to get it to fully download gets to about 600mb then it closes.

UPDATE #2: I tried all of the options that were given down below (Except the VPN option), and none of them worked for me. I guess i'll just wait until SE fixes the issue themselves... Really bummed at the moment. :/

Hi guys, this happened to me tonight. I searched and it appears if you force a launcher update it all works our (Confirmed its worked for me!!)

Go to: my documents\my games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A realm Reborn\

Edit the file FFXIV_BOOT.cfg

Edit the line: BootVersionCheckMode from 0 to 1

Then relaunch your game and it will update the game.
