Probably, yes. Even games like TOR that had us 'do stuff' in cutscenes resorted to the default weapon... Trooper would always use a pistol, for example, or a jedi a lightsaber instead of a vibroblade. Also, I can't imagining how making it work on both Lala's and Roe's would be easy.

If I remember correctly there is a scene where your character is fighting someone during a cutscene. It was short but they still fighting. Then again, that was during the KOTFE story. But I assume that was somewhat easier to make considering there are no height meters in TOR.

You know I really like how primals are going back to the story. One of the weakest parts of the 2.x story was how primals showed up for a fight before being totally forgotten. Now we have the original 3 returning in one patch. Maybe 4.0 will deal with the old primals again instead of completely new ones. Just with different versions of them. Hell, maybe even Lunar versions. Elidibus lives on the moon after all.

After listing to it a few times I came up with a few bits of what I think the lyrics of Sophia's song

...an ancient rite, on her knees .... The ___asks for penance and into her soul the goddess whispers ...... on an empty heart the world can see (sing?)

There was also mention of wise men mentioned somewhere in her song, kinda fitting since Sophia = wisdom

I've got something similar to that.

...Speak an ancient rite, on her knees.
Breath as is from her lips,
Into her soul, the Goddess whispers:
"A heartbeat for the harmony,
Is a rhythm without time.
The heart seeketh equilibrium.
Without strength the (something)."
Says, "Truth is but the melody,
That memory shalt reveal.
One last step by leaving:
An empty heart (something)."

The chorus then seems to be saying "Chase the heartbeat".

I'm not that surprised to hear how different in tone this song is compared to Fiend (what with its running theme of betrayal and terrible revelations), but to see it take a more measured approach, especially with the music analogy in this part, is quite interesting. It seems she is, much like Sephirot is with regards to life, in control of some natural order or balance...which on second thought makes sense because she IS part of the Warring Triad. Maybe the power balance of FFVI does come into play here, but differently?

And I guess one last thing to note is that this song contains "Her" again. With Fiend it refers to the concept of Necessity, so I wonder if there's anything or anyone being specifically mentioned, or if it's just a pronoun.

Final Edit: Unless...*steals Anonymoose's crumpled darksteelfoil hat* ...the "Her" is the woman and the Goddess is the floating head! That would be quite the interesting dynamic, I feel.

I can't help but notice she looks like a Duskwight Elezen and her minions/egis are also Duskwights with glowing hair... Is it possible her 'tribe' may actually be the ancient ancestors of the modern Elezen?

Because that would make the Heavensward CGI confusing when the midlander switched from WAR to DRG.

Good point, I didn't notice the roe looking fellow at the back. Sophia herself definitely looks elezen though, and her original depiction in FFVI doesn't show her ears so the choice of pointed elezen ears was made specifically for her here in FFXIV. I imagine they chose that appearance for a reason. I hope we find out where she came from.

Sudden thought: maybe Sophia is the result of the Meracydians trying to summon Hydaelin...
