I used to call it DD on this forum but even the developers themselves keep using the term DPS as if it's an official term in the game so.... what can we do? Make a big rant thread and try to make them change it?

Oh wow, then I m not the only one.
I still wondered why the short form of "Damage per Second" is also shared for the role "Damage Dealer". Maybe DPS stands for something different like "Damage PersonS" xD
But im totally agree, it must be DD and not DPS!

Maybe DD isn't used cause it sounds like a bra size.
I'm a DD
Damn you I'm only a C
lol. In the sam thread that was me who went " DPS DPS DPS DPS " lol. But that's what I came to know attackers as. I've never heard the term damage dealer and even I used to question DPS when I first started mmos. But that's what people call them so I just went with it. Good luck trying to change that one, it's so ingrained in everyone's mind. Great.. now I feel and look like a fucking spaz for making that comment in the other topic. Why do I fail at everything. Fuck me. :c

While all roles can deal damage, only one is focused on dealing the highest damage per second possible. Tanks sometimes need to take a defensive stance and healers sometimes need to heal because survival is their priority, so only DPSers are prioritising maximum damage output of the party. That's how I would make sense of it.

It's funny, when I say it out loud over voice chat I say DD, but when I type it is write DPS. Likely a habit formed because the Duty finder lists the category as 'DPS'
