i could see maiming or fending gear honestly, just not cloth gear or leather, again im talking about the FF samurai aetsthetic, not any rorouni kenshin or zatoichi or yukata/hakama even if historically those could be exceptible

And yet yoshi's idea of a dps samurai is the robe wearing iaido master as he's specifically stated. Not even yoshi p sees an armored samurai as a dps, so if they add samurai and it's true to how samurai look in past Final fantasy games (armor+helmet) then it'd be a tank.
