That is the most ridiculous thing I've read all day.I will admit though, if you play on ps3 or ps4 controllers, you really are handcapping yourself. To mesmerize where ever single skill is on controller was a nightmare when I tried it. This means ps3 or ps4 players wont use every move correctly and will trim skills down to 8 or so.
Been on PS3 and PS4 since day one with no issues. And for the record, I don't "trim skills down" at all.
I actually would have preferred it there was no synced system, I would love to OP low dungeons kill everything quickly with cleric stance, assize, so I could be done with all my roulettes quicker so I can get back to rl.

Firstly - I find controller quicker and easier than keyboard - and my response times are actually quicker than my partner who uses keyboard.
What utter nonsense about controllers holding everyone back.
As for skipping old mechanics. I started this game late. Towards the end of 2.xx as opposed at the start. Once I caught up I was able to learn mechanics through the newer levels that we had to play over and over for tomestones - so I didn't loose learning opportunities.
SE reuses mechanics. It doesn't matter if a new person encounters it first in Titan or Sophia - they will eventually encounter it once they get to end game and then have the fun learning it.

I think SE has done a lot to give newer players alternatives to enjoy the game.
The problem is simple, players wont use them or use them wrong. Really i shouldn't task SE to fix us as persons.
Btw we have fc...
Just saying...
Hey guys, interesting topic!
Although this might be a taboo to bring up, any WoW players out there that might shed a light on what they do over there?
I was wondering if we can get some hints to what SE could do?

Uhm...last I played, WoW didn't even have a sync - you simply couldn't queue for dungeons outside your level range via DF.

As a veteran of MMOs for over 16 years but new to ff14, my take on all this is that: old content will always be easy. If you want a challenge you look to the new content.
New players want to get past the old content to get to the new stuff. Old players aren't interested in doing the same old stuff they have done so many times before. It's just how these games work.
Ff14 in fact is actually very good at getting the old players to do the old content with the new players, so that at least they have some experience of it, even if it isn't quite as challenging as it used to be
