Only 1536 apartments per server?

As far as I know each apartment building would already have a shared chocobo stable, now all they have to do is roll out more instance for apartments as the game gets future updates which I'd imagine is easier than adding ward plots, add balcony gardening/outdoor furniture ASAP. Expand instance size for gil as the game get future updates like Animal Crossing.

Memory problem? Down size FC room instances, I've yet to run into a FC with maxed out occupancy.

Add 80% refund to manual demolishing. Which give people incentive to move out compare to no incentives at all.

And grandfather FC house as personal house, people with it now obviously get to keep it, but no more in the future. As these houses gets auto demolished, new FC would be able to purchase a house.

Where is this info coming from? It wasn't in the official translation. All I know is, Mr. Happy thinks it's 1 building per city, but he was exhausted during the Live Letter, as usual, and misinterpreted many things they said. It's not the first time it happened to him, and won't be the last time.

All we know is, they showed the massive buildings which appear in each ward, that each building will have 512 apartments, and we know that the price for an apartment is 500k gil. That's it. Nothing more. Nobody said anything about 1 building per city, that originated from Mr. Happy himself. It was his assumption. Now, was this because he didn't realise that the buildings shown are in wards or not, is anyone's guess.

I also don't understand why there's so much panic and I think it's very safe to assume that the apartment buildings will be instanced per ward per city. Reasons:

1. From the screenshots SE published, we know the apartment buildings will be added to the current wards, right down to their exact location.
2. Given that, there's no way SE could add only one apartment building per city in a way that makes sense. They could make the buildings available only in Ward 1 per city, or they could make each building a single instance across all 24 wards - neither of which would be at all intuitive or user-friendly.
3. We know there are 512 apartments per building, so considering that's the limit for private chambers in FC houses, it stands to reason that SE would make use of the data structure and functionality they already developed for that.
4. We know that apartments are accessed via a lobby much like private chambers are via FC houses, so they don't require plots and are therefore not limited by that factor.

So while we don't have official confirmation, the information we have to go on comes pretty damn close.

They did say it is larger than FC quarters but smaller than cottages. So my guess is, one big room (probably the size of a cottage ground floor) that has like, an open, indoor, second floor loft/balcony.

apartments are an "OK" substitute for those that still need a home a tad limited though in number and functionality.
se please, for the love of the twelve, strive to offer homes to all as most other games have already achieved.

As a homeowner I'm actually feeling guilty about wanting to buy an apartment. Then again my server's kinda small so it might not be that much of an issue but...

Same for me. If there are only going to be 1.5k apartments I'll wait a day or two to see if they fill up before buying one. If we're getting over 30k apartments there's no need to feel guilty because everyone, their dog and their gran will get one. ^^

I'm not going to white knight and say the housing situation is golden when it's clearly not, but you have to understand that this is a result of choosing to play on a giant server. Smaller servers have plenty housing and no issues, but we lack a healthy raid environment. Maybe if we got some raiders wanting housing over here, all of the servers would be healthier.

Y'all wanna stop it with this crap? Not everyone chose their server because it was giant. Legacy members had little choice, some people joined friends, some people didn't think playing a more active server would be that big of an issue.

What do people suggest we do now; pack up our entire network of friends and move to a smaller server because housing? Nah, the system is bad and I'm not gonna be told it's my fault because of my choice in server.
