Take a break, I seldom take many, but its a good way to deal with it, come back on a new patch cycle and get back into the swing of things.

I just came back from a 3 month break, happy to be back, chatting with old friends, will probably take another in the near future, but since me and my friends dropped stuff like raid nights, we have been having more fun logging in and goofing around.

How do you deal with burn out...
Just stop playing, and go play something else. I'll do this from time to time, so it's nothing I'm not used to. I don't like forcing myself to play something. Too much like trying to extract blood from a stone.

I don't get burnt-out due to rotation of things. Like one week gather, then rotate to GS, then crafting, then leveling other classes, etc. Also playing other games helps keep ffxiv fresh.

If ffxiv is the only game you play then yea i can see you getting burnt out really quickly

first off I tend to spread the content out over the patch cycle and I tend to do a lot more RL stuff during the patch lull times which during 3.3 hasn't really happen for me since I have been bouncing between main and alt

A lot of suggestions and I appreciate them. At the moment trying to not just do beastmen dailies but also farm Lore tokens to upgrade my BLM as well as farm Eso to upgrade my anima. Sadly my FC... well, everyone tends to do their own thing and while they do come together to help, those times are few and far between (also add in timezone differences >.<... Most of the time I log in, my FC is empty).

I've tried to organize events... from Bird/Pony farms to running older content etc and nothing eventuates. I could try other things like PvP (tried it with the Feast or w/e... didn't go well), Crafting and Gathering, make a alt etc... I don't know... Guess running all I have and then getting frustrated... Don't get me wrong, I do like FFXIV as much as I did FFXI (no i don't want XIV to be more like XI... or WoW... or GW... or ESO... etc etc etc)... I think it's just the lack of support from my FC which is getting me down.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.

I'm in the exact place as you. Ever since the 7 week per tome weapon thing and 2 24 man raid per upgrade instead of 1, my interest have been dwindling. The yokai watch event was the final nail in the coffin. Once I tried that and was stuck in Central Shroud grinding the same FATES I was 3 years ago, I went to Mogstation and canned my sub. Now I'm just waiting for my current sub to run out since I've paid 6 month at a time.

The stuff is not hard at all, it just take more time compare to before for reasons only beneficial to the devs.

Right now I'm just focusing on making money. Once I get myself that apartment next month and buy a large house in ishguard, depends on what the devs do (which I'd imagine the same thing as they are doing now, maybe worse in terms of grind). That's probably it for me.

I've been taking a break to beat the ever so awesome Tropico 4 ($7.49). Then I try to come back to this and it still didn't help. Just the same grind of the same contents for 20 bucks CAD a month, for that kind of cash I can buy an indie game, or a game on sale every month or every 2 month, either way I'd be experiencing more fun than what I'm paying for in this game.

Pretty much this. My fiancée and I have been playing since 1.0 CE and have decided to unsub as of September 2nd. We've played this game for several years, several hours a day, and are having a hard time finding a reason to continue, primarily due to several factors:

    - The game is steering further into a direction that does not suit our taste, as Yoshida and Square Enix have all but lost their connection with their players
    - Most of our friends have taken a break due to Legion (or other games), or have outright quit
    - We're tying the knot in two months and have chosen not to commit to MMO's once we're married
    - The same update model/cycle has gotten tired beyond belief
    - My job already requires me to stare at a computer screen for 10-12 hours a day, so I've found myself thirsting for a new hobby that calls for me to get up off my arse and prevent the ever-increasing expansion of my gut

...and so on. This game has given us several great memories (particularly from 1.x through 2.3) but the focus on fluff over lasting pve content has been the final nail in a coffin that's been gradually built since the game was restructured to become a WoW clone with a pretty coat of paint. We may return from time to time during free weekends to check in on friends (as well as morbid curiosity for the game's progress), but the game no longer holds our interest to the point where we can continue our subs.

Focus on other games/stuff etc..., do that primarily and only log in for an hour or two each day to spend some time with FC/friends. Eventually you'll start increasing the FFXIV time on your own when you feel like doing more in game.
