I've played this game for three consecutive years and never unsubbed once. When I get bored, I just find some other in-game activity to do. There's plenty of stuff to choose from.

I Honestly don't think they care, They are making up thier lost sub revenue by selling overpriced Odin Statues and Moogle Slippers. Gaming companies have gotten really slimy over the last 5 years. As more people unsub they will just stick more stuff on the cash shop and the remaining players will pick up the tab.
As far as OP goes, id just play something else if your not having fun in 14 anymore. I've been playing No Man's Sky and having a lot of fun exploring stuff.

try out some RP stuff :P or find a partner to do stuff together ^^ or like others have suggested take a break for 1 day or 2 days, dosnt have to be a month or something , do something outside for 3-4 hours here and there :P ull feel better afterwards and ull have more energy ^^
edit : but i think most important thing is : dont just log in to do ur dailys , log in to have fun and play the game , u shouldnt feel like u have to do something just to have the best gear if u know what i mean , else ur just pushing ur self in to burnout :P

I play other games along with FF14. Playing nothing but FF14 for a long time would burn anyone out.
I'm actually taking a break as it is. I was still subbed and popped in long enough to do the event (Will admit, kinda sucked in my opinion). Yet I just can't find the interest to play anymore and may just wait till 4.0. Not a fan of PvP and already got what I wanted, spent 4 months raiding and only thing to show was getting to the 3rd boss in A6S and I had been around since Closed Beta so I can understand. Once you have done what you wanted, not much reason to stick around if your burned out.
been here since about 2-3months after 2.0 was released (so 2-3 months after FF14 ARR was released in stores) haven't un-subed ever, even went from PS3 to PS4 within 3 months after PS4 release, I just get some cheap new solo-player game every so often (As waiting on the "Mod" option addition to Fallout 4 for PS4, seen what Xbox One got & started drooling then remember PC gets even more & cursed my bad luck with PC's as my "newist" one is over 15 years old & barly handles Starcraft 2 and by "Barely" I mean 2-3 game maps & it crashes due to "to much temp-visual data stored")
What some see as "distracted" is really "fathoming the unfathomable" - last words from an Ul'dahn Mercurial Chemister at the battle of Carteneau

Yeah - dropped out Overwatch sometime ago and lately only been playing FFXIV.. burned myself out a bit too fast.
Trying to take a break until Patch 3.4, pretty much only logging for FC raids.

I agree with Rufalus the most:
Doing mostly dailies is a nearly certain way to feel burned out at some point.
I do something different everyday and do not feel the need for a break that way (although short breaks of up to 2 weeks happen naturally when a new single player game gets released that I need to play 24/7 until I finish it).
Focusing on one thing too much is a safe recipe to slowly start hating a game.
The original atmas did that to me, after 3 weeks of playing from morning til night, only FATE grinding, and not getting a single Atma during that time,
I quit the game for good (or at least I thought I did..xD). I had forgotten all the fun and great other things that made me enjoy the game,
all I could see was my immense hate for that quest I could have just walked away from.
I think a lot of players who mostly only do their dailies everyday feel like that as well, because their focus is on this one thing they came to loathe, and it overshadows all the other options.

Not to be rude but I dunno why people want us to help them find a reason to play or not feel burnt out.
Stop playing...I mean if you're feeling the burn, then get out the kitchen for a bit.
The games not going anywhere, and it's fairly easy to play catch up if you lag behind a few months.

If you're uncertain about unsubbing as a whole, don't. Just find another game you've been itching to play and log into FFXIV periodically when the mood strikes. I did this back in April and wound up playing Life if Strange (phenomenal game btw). When I started back on FFXIV more actively, it felt fun again. You could also level an alt sometime to revisit old story bits you may have forgotten.
