Customary "When are summoners getting new summons" thread

The devs need to start looking to broadening combat. We don't need crazy 20+ ability rotations. It's not good when every discussion about expanding a job is shutdown because uniqueness is seen as a bad thing.

You have to keep the game fresh somehow, and most of the popular MMORPG commentators agree that the combat in this game is one of the biggest letdowns. It's up to SE to decide whether or not they're keen in expanding their player base. Maybe they're only interested in JP players.

I'm holding out hope for Wondrous Tails being the Carbuncle egi glamour quest. They're being really sneaky about the content inside of it. Plus it has a minion (nutkin) covering what appears to be the actual reward, instead of something like an apple or a silhouette of a weapon. There's just one too many subtle hints on that quest for me to give up yet.

the day yoshi switches to smn instead of maining blm we will see new egi glamour or full new/rework of the pet system, but since hitting more than 5 buttons is difficult, we will only see changes to blm.

Not that it matters but in fact I do have a lvl 60 blm alt, as well as a lvl 60 smn and everything else. Point is?

I disagree. SMN should be focusing on the Pet and not the caster. And thus far they focus heavily on Garuda's one trick pony Contagion for the base class Arcanist DoT meta. It's disconcerting the last Pet skills were learned at lvl 40. You are 60 now.

To call it a Pet class is a joke. Embrace your Super Arcanist.

It just sounded like you were calling max level Black Mages as bad in some way, or something akin to that notion, especially Yoshi-P, and that BLM is getting all the developer attention, because it's easy.

Neither of those are fair assumptions.
Thus why I asked if you knew BLM at 60, as it's a bit more than just pyro mode now.

This comes down to the fact that SMN has the power needed to excel in content with it's current toolkit, despite having less pet emphasis at 60. It's balanced, it's powerful, it's pet is a bonus, and Contagion and ranged attacks are easier to use than Radiant Shield and melee.


"Why fix what isn't broken?" SMN is still getting the numbers, even if we don't exactly like it's playstyle...

I actually really like the idea of the build up to Dreadwyrm Trance. Strategizing when to build your next stack and when to go into the mode, all while keeping up your DOTs for maximum damage. I have fun with it.

I didn't. All I said is, that if he doesn't play or switches to smn, he won't see the importance. As it stands right now, it got placed in the drawer of "just glamour" and even so I could care less how my egi's look like, I have to disagree that it's just glamour.

The request of a overall new pet system has been raised in 2.x already, but since yoshi stated his concerns about that, good or bad I am not gonna argue about, people settled for the just glamour variety. And this topic is discussed quite often because with nearly every live letter smn's get promised the glamour of their egi's and then it's been postponed.

If you feel that this falls under the category of false assumption, because I mentioned that blm's rotation is easier/lesser buttons than smn, that's your opinion. I have no time to debate who's right and who's wrong, but at the end of the day we are still sitting here asking for an eta.
