Lore is the reason we have Grand Company restrictions in PvP. I think the dev team is pretty adamant with using lore as an excuse not to do something.Let's remember that some of the Blue Mages in Final Fantasy have not learned magic by getting hit by monsters: Quistis Trepe (8) and Quina Quen (9), one uses monster drops to learn their abilities and the other eats the monsters; Khimari (10) uses the Lancet skill to absorb them and Strago (6) only needed to SEE the attack, not get hit by it. The BLU job quests could involve fighting the monster in question and learning said attack by absorbing their aether/watching them do the attack/succesfully tanking it/whatever the dev team chooses that fits the FFXIV JOB'S lore.
Now, I'm not saying I want BLU to be one of the new jobs before Dancer or Red Mage, but saying that the lore doesn't allow it isn't a good enough argument. Especially since the dev team thinks how to make a job fun first and then how they can fit it on the lore, see, as someone mentioned, Summoner.

Not quite and wrong example, GC restriction was addded to Carteneau for lore reasons AND to prevent cheating (much as your FC chat and linkshells are blocked while on PvP) because it could lead to win trading by having a mole inside a GC (not completely avoided as this can still be done in voice chat but that's besides the point) in Sieze and Shatter they still keep it for the "no cheating" thing (which, as found out as soon as Feast came out, was INSANELY likely to happen) and (and this is the reason it's not a good example) because they wrote the lore ALREADY and had to work around that. They can make new lore for something but they won't retcon stuff just because.
The reason that saying "the lore doesn't allow BLU to exist" is ridiculous is because the job isn't even out yet, there IS no lore to disalow it. The job quest NPC could just go "well, by careful studying and attuning your aether to the monster's, you can learn their abilities! It's a practice that existed in Thavnair/the New world/Meracydia but was lost until scholars came to our lands and found this ruin/temple/book!" there's no lore saying "you can't be a blue mage, that's ridiculous!" yet.
