If I've learned something from the forums is that.
Acceptable: Paying money for extra game content. (Extra points if it costs a crazy high ammount, because it has a statue included on the side)
Not Acceptable: Playing the game for extra content.

I'm pretty sure the statue is the extra content.
But hey, eye of the beholder and all that jazz, right?
People that pre-ordered HW or ARR got exclusive items for buying those products. Thing is, the statue will not be always be there, is not like you can just upgrade.
And giving anything for buying that statue in game is just a bait. The honest way would be to give nothing to those who buy the statue. But they have to make it so some people will feel the need, fan somehow the greed of players for extra stuff in game, be it glamour or the need of an emote... Its kinda sad, an emote based off Zantetsuken would be a very nice reward for a highly difficult challenge, just like the mount should have been in the first place. But hey, this forums belives is totally ok to put programing hours behind paywalls. Not buying those statues might be the end of square-enix!
I mean we should really be thankful that they even allow us the opportunity! How else would SE pay to do this stuff?
Remember the subscription only covers the costs to swing open the gates of Eorzea everything else we are bleeding them dry with.
I think it's fine. It's their game so they can do whatever. In a marketing sense, it's actually a darn brilliant idea. Sure it sucks for "completionists" but being a completionist is kind of like being a hardcore raider... It's a pretty small percentage of people that play this game. People can make threads like this and it can blow up to dozens of pages and get attention but...even still. The forums are just a echo chamber of trolls and praise from people in the same group.
that was 100$?
This is pretty much exactly the Problem I see that everyone seems to ignore... It would still be okay if you have to pay that pretty high amount of money for a statue and an emote, but not giving everyone anything inside the game the statue is from because we are a little too late or some collectors bought it faster does seem pretty unfair... It's still gonna be rare to have the emote without limiting it, because not everyone wants to spend that much money, as a lot of you said you can decide for yourself, but if the codes are limited and you have to have the money right then, it's no longer a thing of deciding for yourself.*sigh* Well that sadly too expensive right now as a student and if the codes are limited again than goodbye nice emote. If they put all those minions and other ingame items behind RL goods couldn't they at least make them not limited? I would not buy a statue of that price for a simple emote but it would be nice that if someone has the money later they would still get the emote with it...Not only that but anyone that starts the game later will never get the chance to receive any of those limited ingame items. Making them part of every item without a end date would still make them rare, because not everyone would buy something like this.
I wanted to buy the music from the store but after seeing that I cant get the minions anymore I wont purchase them. Would not buy them only for minions but knowing that I now get less for my money because I started to play later makes me feel kinda sad so wont spend any money on them...
I mean I don't necessarily want them in the mog station but at least could you not just put them back as codes on the items? That should cost you nothing and would make a lot of people (imo) happy. (As a minion collector it just makes me sad U_U) But if you dont want more money well than I will keep mine.
Also, with the preorder items they can of course no longer be bought it's the whole system of preorders you cheeselamps. You can no longer preoder a thing that is out already, but everyone who was playing back then yould have bought it until the game/expansion came out. This has a clear number limiting it and no fixed end date for buying it, and it's almost luck if you can get it or not.
