[DEV REQUEST] Let 1.0 legacy items/tattoo/bonuses be account wide.

Considering newly created characters did not experience the events of the calamity, it wouldn't make much sense for them to be branded. You as a player may have gone through it, but the characters themselves are different.

What difference does that really make, though? A little Fantasia and *poof* suddenly that character is an entirely new person. I can see some sort of argument for lore reasons or whatever, but for the sake of players, letting those bonuses and all be account-wide doesn't really seem terrible. Give 'em an option, even, if maybe they want a truly "fresh" character.

Sucks it turned out this way for you, but I don't see SE doing anything about it. It only takes one 1.0 player getting this done to set off a chain of others wanting the same thing (even if for different reasons than you).

The game immerses you, the player, as the Warrior of Light. You're fighting primals, you're fighting the Ascians, you're saving the world (or at least I hope we are).
Why is there suddenly a distinction here saying it's not you who survived the Calamity? My character is not even the same race or gender as from 1.0, so as far as I'm concerned, it's not the same character anyhow.

People who didn't even finish the story in 1.0 still got a character branded, so it's not like it serves as an adequate badge of exclusive pride to say you stuck with the game until the end either.
So I don't see stuff like lore or entitlement as reasons for not making the legacy mark account-wide.


Likewise, I hope it's not that important to the OP if the mark ends up staying character-bound. I get that you guys had no reason to investigate further on whether or not your old characters still existed. But you guys were happy with your new characters even without the mark, right?


If I missed out on something, and I felt it was important enough, I would figure it couldn't hurt to at least ask if I could have a second chance. Sometimes, you luck out. Whether you do or don't, it's not a big deal. Moving on with your life is the same as if you never found out what you missed.
If it's really simple for the devs to add in though, I think it would be nice to have the mark applied to the account.
I also think it'd be nice to have account -storage-, because just as all of my characters are still "me", each character's stuff still feels like "mine", but I know that's asking for too much. Maybe in a future game, please!

This is my view too, I find Fantasia's kind of break lore but would never judge someone for changing their character, I just don't see the difference either.

It's not a life-or-death thing, no. I just wanted to throw it out there after I learned I wasn't the only person in this situation, figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I wouldn't restart all my progress on my character and pick up the 1.0 one just for the mark, I might've if I didn't have a house though.

You could most likely get your tat character leveled up, trade it the house ownership and redo everything faster then SE would do what you are asking ; ;

It took them like a good year to give me the 1.0 titles that I didn't get because I didn't talk to some NPC before the game shut down...haha but at least they did it I suppose ^^

Haha, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you were right! "Trading" the house wouldn't be that simple though, would it? Either way, I wouldn't have my wedding ring with the first day of marriages on it if I changed my main. Probably not a big deal to many, but then I displayed my XI wedding date in my Bazaar comment in FFXI. :P

It is for lore reasons though. That's exactly why.
Even fantasias are just glamour for your original race, lore-wise.

I've had a look but I can't see this confirmed anywhere in game, lore-wise. In fact the other item used explicitly for the purpose of glamour states it outright on the item description.


"This crystalline prism captures the likeness of a piece of equipment and projects it on to another object of comparable form and function.
[For casting glamours upon equipment repairable by goldsmiths (item level 121-160).]"


"Legend states that any who drink this mysterious liquid before lying down for the evening will awaken a new man (or woman).

I will admit that this one could be regarded as more vague than the prior entry and may not say the same in other languages, but to my perception, it sounds like a permanent change, changeable only via another Fantasia.

Why would it not say something like: "Captures the likeness of an customised-character and projects it upon your original character" if it was same for the purposes of Lore? Lore is typically explained in tooltips, along with other places ingame.

I realise this is opinion and is therefore subjective. I know people who will agree and disagree with the points I've made and that's fine!
