Palace of the Dead still needs to be tweeked

I guess the chance of having an upgrade on lower floors is still higher than the chance of founding a silver chest, which doesnt explode or be a mimic (especially on higher floors).

I got 4 upgrades (26->29 and 26->27) within the first 20 floors (from 15 silver chests). But for the last 10 floors, i got only 2 upgrades from the last boss. The 4 silver chests from floor 41-50 were 2 mimics and 2 exploding traps.

I dont even understand that gold chests are so easy to find, while silver and bronze chests are very rare. Why is silver so rare, when gold is not? It must be the opposite, right?

I would rather all bosses give upgrades, scaling up with Edda giving 2+/2+, as the current reward set gives a high amount of exp or Lore tomes for the amount of work put forth for every round.

I believe every boss should give at least a silver chest with one guaranteed upgrade, a +1/+1 would be better, but at least you would get an upgrade for doing bosses again.

Whilst I don't agree with bailing, it's no surprise to still see it happening.

I don't just leave the group, because I know about the logout trick.

But I am not one bit surprised to see people that either don't know about the logout trick, or know about the logout trick but aren't willing to stay logged out for 10 minutes until the instance closes.

No way, that would churn out weapons so fast! I've gotten 3 already, and I really only casually do it a couple times a day (sometimes up to 4, but that's sets of floors, not 4 complete 1-50 clears).

Which is about the same rate I was doing it, and look, first weapon 2 days ago. I'm just suggesting a way to take away so much reliance on RNG so players aren't put in the position of abandoning a team being their better option.

Well, Edda would only be 2+/2+, the rest of the early bosses would 1+/1+.

Also, in all those runs I did, I saw one potsherd from a bronze, but bronze are so unreliable that I had multible groups skip them.

I love how everyone thinks they "deserve" to get +1/+1 on every boss, and even +2/+2 on Edda. Amazing. Look, it's NOT that bad, it's one of the fastest weapon grinds, and even better because, if you have them you can level your lower level jobs with almost no effort. You can get the basics down of most jobs while leveling them too. It is not a difficult dungeon, tho it can suck sometimes. RNG in this particular case is not the devil. If they guaranteed upgrades on every floor and increased the silver chest rate, then people would be done with POTD in a week or so. THAT is poor design, and goes against all the complaints of "Quit making content that gets ignored in a week." a la Diadem.

Or, maybe, get your +1 in floors 1-10! That's the thing about RNG.... he giveth, and he taketh away.

I decided to have a try at doing Floors 1-10 to see if I can get lucky at getting that very last upgrade. I was also at 30 arm 29 armor.

I got it after three runs of 1-10.

Still, I believe this place could still use some tweaks. I am still finding it hard to believe that they actually upped the percentage that silver chests would have a higher chance of upgrading your armor when they made an update on a 25 July hotfix.

You guys know if you get an unpgrade you can't leave or it resets; it's obvious they're gonna leave and do 41-50 again to get more upgrades. :P

Not to mention that if you do the full run you get the V materia to upgrade other pieces as well. I got my two weapons I wanted and by the time I was done I had 8 V pieces that looked real nice as an upgrade for the weapons and some other pieces. People however will nevr be satisfied.
