Sounds like arcanist.

Never played that, don't like tactical games.
I could see a "hunter" DoL that focus on getting hides/skins/bones/animal stuff from "moving" nodes on world maps, they could even have rare spawn normal monsters no one else could target/kill and only they could properly recover the materials from them without breaking them.
What i really think this game needs, is a third quality level beyond Normal and High Quality, call it Perfect Quality and make it be so, items are borderline impossible to HQ, making them big risk, high reward items that have some real rarity and valor. Right now for many if not most markets, finding NQ items is basically crafters messing up a rotation or pressing a wrong button.
Tactical games are not everyone's cup of tea, but FFT is probably the best FF in terms of story, narrative and depth.
Wouldn't mind new DoH/L classes, but I'd rather first see existing ones not play exactly the same.
"Enchanter"
A DoH class which can add effects to weapons through combining items and creating scrolls.
The scrolls could then be sold, and used by any player, regardless of their enchanter level.
There could be cosmetic effects (like Ramuh's lightning effects and Ifrit's fire effects), but also beneficial effects, like added poison or MP regen.
As they level up, the bonus of the effects gets bigger and the proc rate increases. And different effects can only be added to certain weapons. Also, the level of scrolls they create increases, meaning it can be added to higher Item Level items (like the glamour prism system).
A DoT poison effect would be suitable for Rogue or Ninja weapon.
A "Reduce Piercing Resistance" might be more suitable for a Lancer / Dragoon weapon.
Being able to add some small benefits to armor would be nice too. Such as Increased speed (running speed), increased TP, HP regen.
But for example, only feet / leg items would be able to receive "Increased speed".
Unfortunately, adding something like this would require so much extra work for the development team. I think it's just a dream.
"Scavenger / Archeologist"
A DoL class which can examine areas around the world for hidden treasures / clues leading to treasures. The more treasures you find, the higher your skill goes. Then, the rarer treasure you can find and you can unlock new areas to search in.
"Tracker"
Similar to the above DoL class, a Tracker can examine the surrounding to look for clues to rare creatures.
Uncovering enough clues can spawn the creature, which can drop rare items for crating. Some rarer creatures could also be sold as minions or mounts.
Subduing the creature can be done with traps / snares or some other method available to the Tracker.
The chance of capturing the spawned creature increases with the Tracker's gear / level / number of people in the Tracking party.
4 people in one tracking party have a higher chance to capture the prey than 1 person alone. Boost cooperation.
(Don't know how loot can be split though.)

It's likely Shepard would have been in Ishgard as that sign was from, I believe, around Camp Glory. It is a shame it was lost. But as awesome as it sounds, I really wanted to know what it would bring to the gathering game...
Shepherd. Never forget.
Okay, so Shepherd had actually been planned for 1.0 but was never implemented like ACN and MSK, but the fact that class icon was floating around online (I found it on a site that has since gone defunct) showed that at least one time SE were serious about adding it. So, here's hoping that SE may one day indeed finally bring it to the game.
I'd still like to see a Salvager class. I mean we have all these allagan ruins and stuff, why not see what sort of weird stuff they have that we could use?
i think it would bring the stuff wich are now regular monster drops and the stuff the fighting retainer can bring. skin, fur, milk, eggs, meat, claws... stuff like this
but because we now have another way of getting this stuff we don't need this gatherer anymore.
