I dont if a thread like this has already been made. I think maybe instead of fighting class maybe we should get a new dol or doh?. If so what classes would you like to see?

i want a Stonemason o.o/
the problem with new DoH / DoL classes is you have to balance them for low lvl. you need new materials for DoL classes and new recipes and stuff to craft for the DoH classes from lvl 1 to 60 - but there is nothing we would need from such a crafter. we already have potions and food, armor and weapons for all classes... even when they start at 60 they were missing so much stuff and can't compete with the other crafters and gatherers until maybe the next expansion when they have added enough different recipes.
Yes or a Materia maker
sounds alright but it would be hard to implement a DOH OR DOL.
Shepherd. Never forget.
Okay, so Shepherd had actually been planned for 1.0 but was never implemented like ACN and MSK, but the fact that class icon was floating around online (I found it on a site that has since gone defunct) showed that at least one time SE were serious about adding it. So, here's hoping that SE may one day indeed finally bring it to the game.![]()
It's likely Shepard would have been in Ishgard as that sign was from, I believe, around Camp Glory. It is a shame it was lost. But as awesome as it sounds, I really wanted to know what it would bring to the gathering game...

i think it would bring the stuff wich are now regular monster drops and the stuff the fighting retainer can bring. skin, fur, milk, eggs, meat, claws... stuff like this
but because we now have another way of getting this stuff we don't need this gatherer anymore.
i would say the expansiveness of what we have already in regards to land and hand would make adding new ones basically just be taking stuff away from old ones.
Like a bug collector would just be removing all that stuff from botany and moving it to a themed clone.
Or a boneworker would just be taking that aspect from goldsmith
a battle retainer does what a shepherd would do, garden plots fill the place of a farmer
everyone is a materia maker in the sense of how materia is made. Materia alteration would be such a small item pool it would make more sense to be all classes like dye-making
Literally everything in game is covered already.
Even if they came up with a whole new crafter all it would be able to provide is alternates of what already exists at the requirement of adding a whole new set of cross-class materials and new sources of crafting materials in the world. The effort : payoff ratio is way out of whack
Magitek Mechanics. But a new playstyle would have to be added to support the class.
Magitek Battle Circuits or Battlegrounds. Jump to Lightspeed type content. If you played SWG, you know what I mean.

Something like an Inscriptions or Runecrafting would go well in this game imo. Each class/job could their actions enhanced in 1-3 different way (kinda like a trait) by using these items, could be for any ability or skill or even trait but can only enhance up to 6 or so at a time per job/class.
An couple examples would be, for archer "Heavyshadow. Changes Shadowbind to inflict a Heavy status effect instead of the Bind" for a low level Rune/whatever and a higher level one like "Straightest Shot. Straighter Shots now also inflict a debuff on mobs that causes them received 10% more crits for the next 10s".
I mean, SE could come up with a million different things like this and it potentially could diversify jobs even further and who doesnt like customisation! And it doesnt have to be restricted to battle classes either.
