I can find the wedding email from my FFXI marriage in 2005, but not one about transferring 1.0 characters to 2.0. If I'd found this, I would own that and accept I can't do anything, but I received nothing from SE.
If it helps, the earliest email I could find about it was 12th June 2013 with a subject of "Return to FINAL FANTASY XIV and Experience A Realm Reborn!" and later aan email regarding the server migrations and where the 1.0 characters would be moved to on 21st June 2013 and resent again on 22nd July 2013 with the subjects of "Regional Data Centers and World Transfers / FFXIV: ARR Newsletter".

All 1.0 players got a free name one-time name and appearance change which is why you got that (and another free fantasia because not everyones appearance change worked).

As for why no popup... I don't know how to say this without sounding rude and for that I apologise, but the rest of us just automatically logged in with our existing characters. We didn't assume they were deleted, so we didn't need a popup (although I think they are actually are now as I remember reading something about anyone with a 1.0 character who wanted to keep it had to re-login before 3.0 for them to be kept or something like that?).

Again I apologise for sounding rude, but changing things for everyone because of a misunderstanding/some confusion just seems a bit extreme to me.
