Legacy bonuses are account wide
Tattoo is no Legacy bonus, but a "created during 1.0" character bonus.

If the character was created during 1.0, it will have the tattoo regardless of your legacy status
If the character was not created during 1.0, it will not have the tattoo regardless of your legacy status

I'm not asking for Legacy status. I don't have it, I didn't earn it and I don't expect it. That was not the intention of this post.
I used the word "bonus" to encompass everyone in my situtation that did earn bonuses during 1.0. It was not my intention to state that the tattoo was exclusive to those with legacy status. I also already know the circumstances a character currently gets a 1.0 tattoo.

I would like to add that I am *not* in any way, asking for things I haven't already earned by playing 1.0. I'm not after a Laurel Goobbue mount, or a Legacy Chocobo, I just want what my character should've had if SE had given any hint at all that my 1.0 character survived.

I wouldn't oppose that there would be an option on the mogstation that would allow you to transfer or move some rewards between characters, or even the character merge you propose, but making it account wide would be too much, because the legacy tattoo is a consequence of the events the character lived through for existing in Eorzea before 2.0 and has lore implications, even as subtle as they were.

Edit: I've seen posts like this pop up ever since 1.0 closed it's doors, and I always wonder, regardless of personal circumstances why make new characters if there where several free server transfers, a paid server transfer soon after release and free phials of fantasia for everyone?

Anyway I'm never opposed as to giving more options to the players, the merge characters one would be neat I think.

I can understand the notion that account wide bonuses could be seen as excessive and as you rightly mentioned, I did state a second option to merge the 1.0 character into the 2.0 character. I can't change my title, but I'll add it to the top so it's easily found.

I made a new character because I thought my 1.0 character was lost, due to not being listed in my characters on Mogstation (she is since I access the data centre where she resides, but wasn't there until I did that). I didn't come back for 2.0 because I didn't care about XIV again until a friend talked us into coming back in 2.3. That's my problem and I don't expect free transfers or anything, I just wish SE had told me they survived as everything I read led me to believe that the 1.0 characters that survived had done all the story, the truth eluded me until last week, sadly.

In retrospect, I would've focused on the merge character suggestion, but I can't change the title. Ah well.

I'm sorry you didn't look for your old characters, but the tattoo is to symbolise that the character was originally created in 1.0. SE did send out multiple emails to tell 1.0 players that they'd get a free copy of 2.0, where to download the launcher and about how much free time we'd get before we had to start paying. I'm sorry that your email either wasn't working or you had an old address on your account, but changing the tattoo from 1.0 characters to anything made on that account just seems to defeat the point of it to me.

I didn't realise I had to look for them. I figured if they survived, they'd be listed. Given the events of 1.x eventually killed a lot of characters (Yes I know they're only NPCs now, but I didn't think lore wise, anyone would care about a level 15 conjurer who did a few sidequests!), I figured only those who finished the story survived.

My email works fine and I've had the same email address registered to my Playonline and later my Square Enix account since I started FFXI in 2005. I never received one, I spent a fair amount of time searching through them last night before making this post. I can find the wedding email from my FFXI marriage in 2005, but not one about transferring 1.0 characters to 2.0. If I'd found this, I would own that and accept I can't do anything, but I received nothing from SE.

Items given to the 1.0 account (except for the Hermes Sandals for some reason) are already account wide. If you bought the collectors edition of 1.0 (and registered the code) then you'll already have the Onion Helm on all characters on that service account and all future characters.

I did and do have the Onion Helm registered and available on all characters on my account.

When I found my 1.0 characters last week, a pop up appeared stating I can change their name and appearance for free. Why was such a popup not implemented into 2.0 to inform us that we had 1.0 characters available? Clearly the capability to do so is present.
