I gave it a fair shot but it failed.
Sorry but i dissagree, as a PvP player in many other MMOs, FFXIV isn`t as terrible as people makes it to be. Yes, is not blade and soul levels of good, but it isn`t "unplayable" or "subpar". It needs fixes and more incentives, and please, less grind. One really factor playing against it from the start i belive is the grind involed on it, wolf mark grinds, experience grinds, GC grinds (if you change GC basically you lose all your pvp skills... lol?).

If pvp were less grindy, more rewarding and had some tweaks arround, it would be pretty lively. But tbh, not even the dev team knows how to deal with it. Yoshida himself said, GC restrictions were in place to prevent the "moral degradation" of the playerbase, as in, "im not giving them what they want or they will become spoiled". So there is that too..

Well you know how it is most of the time. Give players an inch and they will take a mile. Not ALL players, but a lot of them.

It is certainly close to unplayable if using a controller.

You tried targeting someone on frontlines with one? Next to impossible.

It isn't more grindy than most mmo's it offers tokens for winning (and losing) and you trade those in for specific PvP gear. I don't see anything that singles this out as especially grindy. I've PvPed in Aion... Now that was grind heavy but the combat was actually fun so I did it.

I'm not saying incentive should be the sole thing SE need to work on, they also need to address why people don't want to PvP.
Wouldn't do anything to help, it would increase the amount of players momentarily just like Fronlines did but then it will die again.

It's a temorary fix not a solution by any means.

I FFXIV with a controller and I did the PvP absolutely fine... I had no issues with any of the gameplay... :|

On another note; I hate pvp, I hate pvp from the pit of my stomach to the atoms of my soul but I actually "enjoyed" the pvp in Wolf.. Nest? w/e it was called, I only did it once and then decided to just cough up 1.5mil for the fenrir. I probably would pvp more if the queues weren't so disgraceful, if I'm totally honest (I like the wolf-caster set.) If the queues were less pitiful I probably would queue more. :|

I mean that's the same with every piece of content though, that's why mounts and minion drops exist. Who'd be running the old Ex primals now if not for the mounts?

True but PvE content gets outdated and replaced as gear increases, PvP is different it's quite static in that regard you will never "overgear" or "progress past" in the PvP environment. Primals are fun fights too so there really isn't much to put people off wanting to do them.

There is a minion in AV didn't see many people clammering to complete that instance for it.

That's an apples/oranges scenario. The Minion can be gotten form a chest early on the dungeon, which players can then quit afterwards (plus, Unsynch). A better comparison would be any Level 60 dungeon, those also have minions, they drop from the last chest, but people would still rather spam ARF, because tomes.

In PvP's case the only random drop is the Fenrir pup in Feast. The Mounts are all tied to achievements, which unlike Primals, seem to be impossible to nerf, or even change outside of text strings.
