For starters remove GC restriction.
And don't Denote what GC your playing for or Show everyone in your party/alliance as the GC you do belong too.

I feel trinity design does not make for a very compelling PvP experience, personally. I couldn't enjoy it in WoW and I can't enjoy it much here, especially in the arena type modes - chasing healers around pillars got old after doing it once. Guild Wars 2 PvP (both structured and WvsW) was much more enjoyable to me and as linked above, LoL managed to keep me around for a very long time, that's not to mention other MOBAs, shooters, fighting and strategy games I played.
I really don't need any incentives for PvP. It's a great way to spice up your game with some non-predictable gameplay and thus, a strong counterpoint to PvE, which is superb for variety. That alone is a strong motivator that often makes me queue up despite knowing that I'll groan about the gameplay. But after a mere handful of games, I keep going:"Eff that." and stop.
To be honest it's fairly easy to fix the PvP: more rewards, more ties to PvE (allow wolf marks for upgrades too), more long term rewards (money is never bad) and so on.
What saddens me is that they put a lot of effort on new pvp maps, while barely anyone even plays it. I would definitely play more pvp but the queues are indeed a problem. And as I said, it's even easy to fix (removing GC limitations would be a huge step)
I FFXIV with a controller and I did the PvP absolutely fine... I had no issues with any of the gameplay... :|
On another note; I hate pvp, I hate pvp from the pit of my stomach to the atoms of my soul but I actually "enjoyed" the pvp in Wolf.. Nest? w/e it was called, I only did it once and then decided to just cough up 1.5mil for the fenrir. I probably would pvp more if the queues weren't so disgraceful, if I'm totally honest (I like the wolf-caster set.) If the queues were less pitiful I probably would queue more. :|

I mean that's the same with every piece of content though, that's why mounts and minion drops exist. Who'd be running the old Ex primals now if not for the mounts?
True but PvE content gets outdated and replaced as gear increases, PvP is different it's quite static in that regard you will never "overgear" or "progress past" in the PvP environment. Primals are fun fights too so there really isn't much to put people off wanting to do them.
There is a minion in AV didn't see many people clammering to complete that instance for it.

That's an apples/oranges scenario. The Minion can be gotten form a chest early on the dungeon, which players can then quit afterwards (plus, Unsynch). A better comparison would be any Level 60 dungeon, those also have minions, they drop from the last chest, but people would still rather spam ARF, because tomes.
In PvP's case the only random drop is the Fenrir pup in Feast. The Mounts are all tied to achievements, which unlike Primals, seem to be impossible to nerf, or even change outside of text strings.
I was more talking about the time when AV was actually relevent and Unsync was unavailable but I can condede your point. That's an apples/oranges scenario. PvP has it's own roulette but still people don't want to do it, even for the tomes... Maybe if it offered Gil like the others I'd do it so I can see that being a good change, I wouldn't be enjoying any moment of it though but I can say the same for my daily Main Scenario runs lol.

A big part of it for me is just the PvP gameplay in general. I'm not a huge WoW fan but the one thing it always did solidly better than FFXIV was PvP. The give and take between crowd control, escape options, burst, and healing was always really exciting, creating dynamic situations in large group battlegrounds and smaller arena style fights.
XIV's PvP almost entirely comes down to burst or objectives that are frequently not about PvPing at all, and it's just not very engaging for me.
While overhauling rewards will help, I can't see them really drawing larger numbers into PvP unless they also overhaul the abilities system. They should probably bite the bullet and give everything a PvE and PvP function, as the game's PvE abilities just often don't translate really well into PvP, and that would go a long way toward reducing the barrier for entry (since you often have to redo your hotbars just to PvP, which is also quite frustrating).

I can't stand most people in most of the teams I been paired up with, so I just stopped PvPing completely.
