Dwarves from SE games however have existed, Chrono Cross dwarves were bizarre.

Dwarves tend to be made out of dirty / rock so we probably dig them up out of some old, musky ruin.
Either that or we wake them up from a slumber the Allagan put them under in some old, musky, tech-tower.... Cyborg dwarves!

To be fair there's already dragons in the game, and apparently Au Ras are supposed to be (part?) dragons.

Are they? The last memo I got was that they're styled after a demon-motif, rather than a dragon motif and that any potential connection to dragons due to their scales is purely coincidental.

But I'm not always up to date, sooo...yeah.

The design cues for the Au Ra came part in part with both more demonic and more draconic leanings. If you look at the progress of the concept art, the ones labeled "Dragon Race" closely resemble the current Au Ra designs.

No, they are not. Au Ra may have been been made with a dragon theme in mind, but that would clash with the 3.0 story where Ishgard is at war with dragons (how would the story explain a bunch of dragon people being allowed to walk freely in the city without being attacked?)
