So this game is a "mindless grind" because you can get level 50 in a week or 2, but FFXI, with its months of grinding (before abyssea) was right, so let me get this right, you want to have a game that is alot more grinding to lower the amount of grinding you my friend make no sense at all.
Umm I hate to break it to you, but even pre-1.19 all melee did was auto-attack and WS every 10 seconds, maybe use a cooldown once a minute. Lol. Were you playing at that time...? The only difference is the EXP comes in faster.I think they should offer players the choice whether they want to start at LV50 or not.
Perhaps it's a matter of personal preference (or intellectual refinement); but I also played
in a PT today, and for me spamming the same weaponskills every 10 seconds got boring
pretty, pretty, pretty fast.
Maybe you should try World of Warcraft, I hear they have these things called "rotations" so you don't just auto-attack and weaponskill every 10 seconds.
If you thought that pre-1.19 had more engaging combat you may need to seek additional "intellectual refinement", though.

Yo dawg, i heard you liked grinding. i equipped a meat grider into your offhand slot, that way you can grind while you grind.

Jobs ( one fundamental aspect of the future battle system ) aren't already implemented, for now maybe it's better and more positive give feedbacks about main aspects of the game. ( ex. New ways of fighting Many vs Many ecc. )
We have dungeons, side quests, leve quests, story quests, grand company quests, Notorious Monsters with rare and powerful drops, and general casual parties.
There's enough there to make the grind "bearable" and they're adding more with each patch.
If you're just going out and killing random monsters, you're not doing it wrong, you're doing it boring.
...Well, you're kinda stuck doing that with every game over 50 hours.

Exping with links, chain = nice and fast, quite dynamic. I like it more after 1.19.
What is this nonsense?
Of course people who commit to something have a right to feel good. That's the point of RPG's in general pushing through all the grind and story till your strong enough to beat it. And "extended torment" Hah! There was plenty in XI to break up the grind and look forward to, not to mention all the relationships formed through parties and linkshels.
