Why do people always use this as a argument as why cash shop shouldn't be done away with? You are more insulting then the person you are replying to.

Because in some cases people CAN'T afford those items. You, nor I, know what the exact financial situation is that every player is in. Now, just because someone may be facing difficulties doesn't mean you or I shouldn't purchase things, we have the funds and are free to use them as we see fit. However, the things in the cash shop are overall, much more priced then they should be, pure and simple. Take the two seat mog mount, why, in all honesty, is that mount worth 2 monthly payments? We have mog beast tribes, why not make a beast tribe unification quest, like with 2.0, and give the mount as the reward? And before you state that Bennu was 24? (too lazy to price check) and people still purchased it, that should have also been a mount given away from T12, as should have Twin, Selphinr, and both the colored Mag mounts.

It doesn't take any more work to make these mounts as rewards for quest completion, most of those mounts would have been obtained by the a very large sum of community members, save for new players, by now anyway. Clothing is the same way, want to look like Aymeric? Lucia? Complete Final Steps. Want to have a ghost outfit? Make a quest that deals with going through Tam Tara HM and fighting a special boss. Mounts, clothing, and dyes shouldn't be put into a purchase only setting, they should promote content, content promotion is never a bad thing at all and generally makes people happy to do things as long as it is something of value. Now if SE wants to put additional account services on payment, by all means, anything like Fantasia, server changes, and name changes, all make sense to have an additional fee, doesn't mean they can't have special events where you win said service, but those items aren't something that should be given out for playing content.

While this is true, lot of people just assume the person is too poor to buy it. Not that person thinks it over priced or person thinks it should be added to the game. Nope they are just too poor to buy it, which is why I said it insulting.

The issue is that Ultear used this as grounds to try and discredit someone's comment, when nothing about pricing (in that regard) was even mentioned. "Don't badmouth the CS just because you can't afford it!" has nothing to do with what was actually commented. I am always amazed that people can be so inept at sticking to what was actually said and with their ability to make fair arguments. Sure, we all get caught up from time to time, but at least try and curb the amount of crazy you toss at someone.

Wow... Lexia was right, this is pretty insulting. You're assuming that the reason for that person being against this idea is because they're "broke" or "poor" and jealous of others who can afford better, without any real proof. While it's true that some can't afford extra items from the cash shop, The most likely reason for the argument that I can see is that they simply have other things they'd rather spend that money on or don't want to support the direction they imagine the cash shop headed.

I don't have a problem with the cash shop in its current state and have used it pretty regularly, but it does make me a little uneasy when people continually suggest that unwarranted things - things that have always been added to the game through other means; events, GS, vet rewards - get added immediately to the cash shop instead. I'm aware that a subscription only allows the player access to the game servers and nothing more, but I don't personally want to end up playing a game where the best thing about logging into the servers is to show off your new cash shop goods. If we keep campaigning for cash shop bloat then we just might one day end up purchasing our endgame weapons and dungeon/raid entrances from an over bloated cash shop while in-game updates get thinner and thinner, and if that were to happen, then what game would we even be paying to play?

And if players are so willing to suggest adding everything into the cash shop, what's there to stop SE from slowly moving in that direction if the market is there, which it obviously is. That's why a lot of people are speaking up against it.

They want a high reward with no effort required. Gaming 2016 folks, live it up.

Because this is essentially cosplay requests. I would rather SE make unique events for entirely new glamour or hyped new releases like FFXV. Not focus said resources on Tifa or Terra's outfits from Advent Children and FFVI, respectively. Those events means we'll only get one or the other in lieu of both. That, and SE is a business. Saying you'll pay for silly cosplay outfits or old event items inherently gives more incentive for them to do it compared to "I want all this cool stuff, but I don't want to pay anything for it."

I'd honestly think the cash shop would pull in even more money if they let you directly sell all the items on the marketboard versus the gifting thing. People complaining about the cash shop would honestly just support it if they could get the items with gil.

That is where you start sliding down the slope that is known as P2W. Plenty of people would happily spend their RL money to become filthy rich in-game, which would create havoc in all the markets.

Granted, the advantage you would gain in this game is pretty limited compared to other games, but I personally don't think it belongs in XIV.
