I dunno if its selfish to call this out as the shameless unrelated marketing it is. This doesn't seem that far removed from having Pizza Hut Pizza lids as shields and breadsticks as swords.

Isn't that true of the past crossover events as well?
Are those ok just because they're properties owned by the same company?

Other ff titles were at least in the same franchise. Stuff like dragon quest and this? I get that they are popular but is that the only criteria for lore according to the devs? Should we be expecting Luis Vuiton accesories being paraded around as FATEs next?

You know very well that it's a possibility.

That aside, FF13 may be in the same franchise, but it's style is so far removed from XIV's that it may as well be a whole different series.

I was aware of the Luis Vuiton ads, its why I said it.

You may be alright with it, I think its ridiculous and shameless advertising. And its kinda of reaching to say that ffxiii "might as well be its own series".

Like, there no "respect for the lore" here; there is only money. SE will have its silly yokai watch event and people will be flying around in amusment park ghost clouds. Justify it all you want. I'll be elsewhere.

Well, you're right. It is shameless marketing. And I think the same is true for the other 3 crossover events. And I don't think simply belonging to the same franchise or company changes that.

Point #2: I don't think marketing crossovers are really anything to be ashamed of. I treat it with the same non-canonical view as I do everything else that doesn't make sense. The whole point of the game is to give Square a big ol' monthly income, so as much as I would have liked the game to rest on its own strengths, a little advertisement here and there won't ruin it.

Honestly that would be great for glamour.
Also, i'm really excited for this event, i love the game and it's just so silly and fun. Also, the weapons for the classes that i like look quite good in my opinion and i have to collect all the minions, they're adorable.
