You only get banned if someone reports you.
Normal selling of houses really isn't that bad, and most likely isn't going to get you a ban.

If you put it on PF it increases the amount of people that will see it.
Which increases the chance of selling and the chance that some random salty will report you.

The best way to sell plot with lowest risk of getting reported, would be word of mouth through your LS friends.

Ok, I just saw the content in the link. If that is factual, how come a GM couldn't just reply with that? Something about it all seems odd to me.

That link with the title that it's 100% against ToS? That shouldn't have been linked, it's false info. Go by what people have said in this thread.

Even read several of the replies in that thread, they call OP out on misrepresenting what Yoshi P said.

Just use /r/FFXIVhousingmarket to set up a sale on Reddit, arrange everything in PMs there, show up at the plot, trade gil, relinquish plot, no words spoken. As long as you don't say anything about it in game GMs can do nothing because they can't use outside sources as evidence, everything has to be in-house.

We have warned you, we linked a thread with evidence that people selling them have been punished and the GM supervisor saying selling plots or estates is against the ToS. He explains this information has been passed along to all GM's so that they now have a uniformed approach to dealing with it. If you sell it, you cannot use the excuse you have not been warned about it breaking the ToS. Either relinquish for no return or wait till reclaim is restarted for a large portion of the plot price back.

That thread had one response from a GM posted by a player other GM's have had totally different responses on the subject. I have also seen plenty of houses still appear in PF and stayed up for the full duration with the player still moving around various areas. So no it is still not clear cut.

Nearly 100% of the replies in this thread are alarmist bullshit or people trying to spin quotes for whatever agenda they have. If you don't want your house, sell it for a fair price to someone who's not going to try to report you for it.

Saying selling plots is 100% illegal even for 1 gil is like saying going 36mph in a 35 zone is illegal. Just use your head, and never take advice from the forum police.

Wait, so you acknowledge that clearly they would be facing discipline for doing so, to the extent you tell them to be secretive and sneaky, then on the back end you say that people who've given the fair warning, cited source material and GM conversations, provided specific screencaps of conversations with GMs and have testimonials from players who have indeed gotten penalized for selling housing at ANY PRICE are alarmists "pushing their own agenda" - wow, sir.

If there were no risks involved, then why even worry or advise secrecy. And I hate to be THAT person, but technically they can totally give you a ticket for 1mph over the speed limit. Rules are rules, laws are laws, regardless of how inane you perceive them to be. Sorry.

So we are now comparing online games with real life laws. I understand you can't help yourself and need to find something to base your argument on, but law is not the word you should be using, it has nothing to do with it. I also understand that you would love the GM's banning and killing people that sell their houses, sadly this is not happening. It's not a part of the ToS, sure it's maybe one of these topics that when you ask GM A he will tell you something different compared to GM B, however that still doesn't make it a "law". At the end of the day it's up to the GM to handle the situation, however there's no evidence that people have been banned for selling houses. I know there are those kids that claim to be banned but yet they can't provide evidence. with your own words, I hate to be THAT person, but technically that's all you're basing your opinion/argument on.

They don't need to. Like every legal contract they have a "or anything else that we decide at any point" clause. They could turn around tomorrow & state that it was against the ToS to have any vowels in your character name & there's NOTHING you can do about it as it's covered by the clause.

Trust me, I've written & reviewed more than enough legal documents in my time. XD

You claim it is alarmist bullshit but then go on to say 'to someone who will not report you', if it was perfectly fine to do as you said you would not care if sold it to someone who would report you/them. You fear someone reporting them because you also think they could get banned for it. There is evidence already supplied showing that even if do charge much less than the value of the plot you will still get banned.

The irony is probably none of the people advocating the OP does it would be willing to admit doing it themselves for fear of being banned, it is highly unlikely they would put their own money where their mouth is and do it with theirs. It is easy for them to advocate and advise others to do it when they are not the ones who risk getting their account banned for doing it...the OP should keep that in mind.

Also in case you and few others were not paying attention, the OP has made a thread about potentially selling it, he has asked GM's about selling it too, he is very much on their radar. People do not even need to report him for it, GM's will probably be well aware of what he has done/might do (if he does it) after painting such a large target on his back for them to keep an eye on.

It really wouldn't be hard for GM's to prove if sells it even if dialogue between him and the buyer happens outside the game, I am not going to explain how because it would give him something to try and work around much like if told someone there was a speed camera on a road, they would then take another route. But it would be very easy for GM's to catch him if does it now.

This debate will go on forever until we get a solid response from Square. They need to clarify their stance on this.
