Uhm...why do people always say this as if it was something to be afraid of?

What terrible things happen if you fall behind a little? Is your static going to kick you? Will your FC give you the boot? Will dungeon groups vote dismiss you for having i223 instead of i235?

I mean, sure, it would be nice if caps could be stacked similar to leve allowances, because activity can be rather erratic. But missing a cap really doesn't matter outside of bleeding edge progression.

Most statics that are capable of succeeding would indeed remove someone who continuously falls behind because 1 person shouldnt hold back an entire team. Not saying I support that thought process but it is indeed something very real. it also locks you out of doing content using the PF when most will set it to what is currently considered realistic in terms of gear progression rather than the minimum for the duty as recommended.

I read the OP's post on page 1, but none of the 100 pages of replies. I just want to say as a long time player I fully understand where he is coming from. I routinely leave the game for 2 or 3 months at the time and come back for a while, only to fade away again. The problem is they continue to recycle the same content formula over and over. It feels like im doing the same thing today as I did when ARR launched. You run dungeons to get currency to buy gear to run raids to get currency to buy gear. The 24 man raid content is the same thing today as it was with crystal tower. These new raids are fun the first several times you run them, and then its all the same again. Everything revolves around a weekly reset of some kind, so you constantly feel like youre checking off a list of chores to complete. There is no fun or meaningful over world content, there is no content to do that is just pure fun, but not mindlessly repetitive. Give me a reason to go use my flying mount in the many zones. Why do I feel so detached from the world? Why do I feel like I can accomplish nearly everything from my housing district? There is no incentive to be in the world, to do anything outside of the chore list. Eventually that same repeated list of chores burns even the most loyal of fans out. I love a lot about the game, but the content formula is really stale at this point. Its all the same, just with different names. There is no excitement anymore about gearing up a new job - its the same currency gear that everyone else is wearing. I personally enjoyed diadem when it first came out - RNG style loot, always watching for that 210 drop with awesome rolls, and then it just died. They spent so much time im sure developing this new content, and then it dies in one patch cycle. Weve seen fun side attractions added like chocobo racing, verminion, and triple triad, but hardly anyone plays these. I feel like SE release so much content that just kinda falls flat with the player base. There is a disconnect somewhere.

3.35 launches tomorrow and SE will drop a new type of content in deep dungeon. Im glad to see a new type of content again. I hope it does share the same fate as diadem and essentially be dead 3 months from now. They must break this stale formula and shake the game up.

EDIT: I also would add many of the jobs feel like they are cut out of the same mold as well, with a few exceptions. I hope while they diversify content they will work to make each job feel unique and different. Not the same combo formula just with different animations and names.

You can't, but my takeaway point is that you can design content to be resistant to the fatigue. Even during wotlk with patch fatigue, the subscriptions was higher than ever, and maintained it quite well. The content speaks for itself; Ulduar is still one of the best, well designed raids imo and that has a factor to it.

Don't stray from the original context. If you're raiding in a static, then you're probably actively playing the game anyway, and the lore cap wouldn't even be a primary concern. However that does root back to the original problem where the only "static raid" we have is EX and savage, the latter being the primary one and thus necessitates the gear requirement, but i digress.

I also agree with this, I was so disappointed that MCH turned out exactly the same as BRD.

Ulduar was most definitely one of the most well designed raids ever made in MMO history. It hit almost every note right. Its a shame SE hasn't really made a mechanic heavy fight like the first fight where you use motorcycles and other vehicles. You could do something like that and mix it in with getting off and performing your tank/DPS/heal checks. Don't get me started on how amazing the warship fight was in Icecrown Citadel, where you were fighting another ship and you lost from your ship getting blown up or your raid group wiped. Had to jump over to defeat mobs/bosses and properly manage your resources and cannons to win.

I do also want to SE step a bit out of their comfort zone in raids and do something very interesting. Coils had somewhat interesting fights like T1, but now they have become one boss on a circle platform.

Not saying the fights we get now are bad (well, some are...AS3), but it feels limiting and using Ulduar/Naxxramas/Icecrown Citadel as ways to engage players more than their respected roles without breaking that role and they will have something great.

I guess we will see if they take that in for 4.0. I wouldn't hold my breath for 3.4 however.

You know something isn't right when more than one of the choices made by SE are the same...

Can you work toward a high iLevel weapon while leveling other jobs?

If so, this content will never die.

I'm personally not doing it again after my first 50 floors. From a combination of having a level 1 MCH, mobs being exactly as I expected (1 or 2 telegraphs associated with each one) and the bleek, hallway-esq design, I'm already falling asleep after the 5th floor on each tier.
