240 drk relic is kind of ugly

Eh, I don't think it's the worst. Soul Edge homage is at least passable. NIN anima looks like a swiss army knife with everything popped out at once which is regrettable. But I suppose they're both ahead of SMN / SCH having rather boring books. Even the BLM staff starts to look good once you dye it.

The Monk weapon overrides your arm slot glamour, which pretty much ruined the look I had going on, so I'm pretty sure that makes it objectively the worst.

I don't mind the new drk weapon look. What bugs me is that it's such a dramatic change from the last version. Wasn't that blacksmith dude going on about it being his best work? Now they're all like, "Well that didn't work out. Plan B!"

The Spurs of the Thorn Prince is my favorite model for NIN outside of Yoshimitsu Nexus. :x

I didn't like them until I actually had them and could see them in proper lighting and context, though—and they also look better dyed than they do in the default scheme. Kannagi was a pretty nice model at base, but the Hyperconductive glow was awful.

Now they're all like, "Well that didn't work out. Plan B!"

In terms of the lore, the reason you get a new weapon is because the Anima outgrows the old vessel and needs a more suitable one.

I agree with how nice it looks. Of the healers, the WHM relic is certainly among one of better ones (and really of all the relics), at least to me. While I've only see data dumps of the Astro relic (I haven't run into anyone with it yet), it looks like it might be quite nice too. Unfortunately, I have to agree with NovaLevossida about the books; both Summoner and Scholar I was very underwhelmed with upon seeing in game. Maybe they will look better with the inevitable VFX glitter they'll throw on.

To be honest this set of relics is disappointing for quite a number of jobs. The Draconomicon for SMN was easily my favourite weapon model in the game and I was looking forward to seeing it get a unique particle effect, but nope we just abandoned those models for some awfully tacky new ones. I truly hope this tier isn't the final model that gets the unique effect for the final stage.

I like the Machinist and Bard Anima the most in phase 5.

bard because it has that elegant look and Machinist because it is a Allagan style Gun. The MCH anima even has a special animation where the light on the gun switch from blue and red color based on if it is being used, red color to represent active in Hostile mode like a Allagan drone, and blue when it is not being used, representing a Allagan drone being in non-hostile mode.
