Ellky's idea thread, you dill pickles wanted suggestions? Here they are.

Hello, you may no me as the guy that calls the game out on its staleness and its stubbornness to evolve, so here are my ideas on how to make the game more interesting in a not so monotonous way so I'll probably edit this a lot.

    1. More interaction between Free Companies, this can be done in many ways. Guild Tournaments, company points, actual company leader boards. A tournament could be so cool. Each company would pay a hefty entrance fee to enter, it would be a bracket layout, each company faces off in a PvP environment until one is the winner. The prize could be the accumulation of all the entrance fees and bragging rights. Free Companies should be competitive. As PvP stands right now its based mostly on you or a lame Grand Company you randomly picked years ago. So throw the FCs into the mix.

    2. Gear/weapon stats and sets. I think it would be wonderful if obtaining a full set added extra benefits. Company gear actually somewhat did this but not in a very meaningful way, just a few extra stats. But you were rewarded for having matching pieces. Special effects connected to gear could augment our already existing skills. More potency, an added slow effect, increased buff duration for a specific skill, the possibilities are huge. But as of now we just have generic number stats. yay.

3.The Overworld. If you wander around Eorzea it is quite dead, I do this often when I'm waiting in the DF. I see no new players in the new areas, nobody really anywhere except for Limsa's aetheryte and Idyllshire. There is no solo/party content in the overworld at level 60. What do I mean by that? What if there are level 60 mobs that actually drop meaningful materials and are a challenge to kill? People that are into crafting can get them, and people that are not into crafting could just sell them for a profit. As it stands right now there are not many meaningful ways for a battle class to make money on their own. We are pigeon holed into a crafting or gathering class to make our money. Thats cool if you're into that, but I like killing things, not sewing. So let me make my money in the overworld by doing what I enjoy, killing stuff. An other idea for Overworld content, and some may realllly disagree but. WORLD BOSSES, I mean mega bosses that are unique to specific areas. Not fates like odin, I mean a big bad mofo that owns that area and is always there chilling. The reward could be like the rewards from odin, you get drops that you trade in for other items, but useful items.

    4. Stats. I feel that the stats are very direct, this increases this and only this, while this increases that and only that. What if some of the stats had duality to them up to a cap? Lets say that DEX increases EVA, Crit, and ranged damage. The first 20 points in Dex would increase your Crit/Eva to a cap lets say 5-10%. You could decide between pure damage, or some damage with some crit. Would any Black Mages be willing to dump 20 points into DEX for 10% crit chance? I would. What if Piety didn't just increase your MP but also gave you mdef. Now a tank like Dark Knight may consider a few points into piety. Thus we have diversity.

    5. This one everyone wants, Character Customization. Sliders would be great, like really great. Pre made faces and facial features ends up with players that look very similar to eachother. New hairstyles every few patches is nice but hair can only do so much. When was the last time we got a new face? I have no clue.

    6. Dungeons Raids and Trials. Since the Dawn of 2.0 we've had these 3 with little change to them so what if we simply alter them a bit. We have 8 man raids, why not an 8 man full party dungeon? That could be pretty interesting. Or a 32 man Raid. I don't know but its always been 4,8,24 for each one of them.

    7. New content. Time Attack. An 8 man full party starts out in the middle of a platform, a timer starts and mobs start spawning around you, they converge and you fight them. The mobs keep coming with an occasional boss coming out (alongside other mobs). Your party dies at the 6 minute mark. Your party gets a silver medal and is rewarded with whatever silver gets. That might be fun, a short intense fight with many enemies and bosses that give moderate rewards with a daily bonus.

    8. Better potions. Ethers are almost useless with an absurd cooldown. The cooldown does not equal the mp restored to me. Same with potions. Why are they even still in the game? Probably remnants of 1.0. Consumable items are so underwhelming.

    9. A new gatherer or crafter. I'm not 100% sure because I started playing around 2.3 but have we always had the same gatherers and crafters? So maybe a new one with a new mechanic could be introduced rather than just 3 battle classes all the time.

    10. Tomes. I do not enjoy tomes. I do not enjoy this looming number that I have to reach by a certain time. Tomes have left a sour taste in my mouth from a design point of view. I feel like this is the source of the monotony, just something about actually being in the world from level 1-60 then suddenly getting all my stuff from some shop and just waiting in the duty finder is boring.

On point 8 we need better items in general, items that work and will be effective...and each item needs to be on it's own damn recast timer. If I use a potion with a 5 minute recast. Those little fireworks items are also sharing a recast timer of 5 minutes. You know what recast those fireworks are supposed to be on? 6 seconds. And it's like that for every item in the game.

    Asinine.

Edit: Go ahead. Try it out. It's fucking hilarious.

I like this idea, I would especially like it for the 24-man raid gears, since they are never a real improvement to what we already have, so aside from that extra item we always need to upgrade the tome gear, a set bonus if you get the whole set would really be nice and give us more motivation to do the content.

    Love this idea too.

This might actually be a problem on your already crowded server, I personally always wonder how I find people where I wouldn't even expect to see anybody.
Either way, this is also a great idea. I would love for general outside mobs to drop meaningful things AND also give meaningful XP in the process, I would like it if just running around exploring and killing some harder stuff that is around in numbers would actually help me level too.

I like the rest of the ideas as well, but the ones I pointed out here are just great and only require minor additions/changes without changing the whole "formular" everybody speaks of.

IKR!! I was really, positively, surprised because they are not about changing the whole game formular. They are little things that would actually spice things up by A LOT and they seem doable.

Probably trying very hard to find something to nitpick about. All the suggestions brought up are sound, concrete, and to the point. And I agree with all of them. And they would likely improve the game further and slow it's stagnation.

    1) PVP was always implemented poorly with the Grand Companies so changing it is a good idea, not sure how much traction that will actually get as most players still don't seem to care much for PvP.

    2) this is a good idea but they can't do this without scrapping the entire itemization system. if your issue with the game is that it's mainly vertical gear progression that's never going to change. people don't use full sets because it's so hard to get them all. it takes weeks/months to collect a full tome set, a full Raid set, a full 24 man set. the full set bonuses can't be so great that it invalidate new gear released when the iLv goes up.

    3) Hunts, Dailies and Maps already do this, Aquapolis even more so, they can do more but persistent world bosses is a bad idea, S Ranks and boss FATEs are bad enough. There's nothing they can do with world bosses that they can't do by modifying S Ranks and expanding hunts.

    4) encounters are tuned too tight for that kind of variance.

    5) sure

    6) Queue times for 24 man content already show that anything more is a bad idea, itemization needs to change drastically for 8 man dungeons to give meaningful rewards or people wouldn't do them.

    7) This is also an itemization problem, what's a moderate reward?

    8) encounters are tuned too tight for those items to have meaningful impact, they don't want gil to be a determining factor whether harder content can be cleared.

    9) they should make Miner and Botanist more distinct from each other, don't need a new one. lots of people hate the idea of Specialist crafting a new crafter won't help and isn't going to add much.

    10) this is a personal choice, lots of people like tomes as a way to keep up.

Your main complaint is that the game is boring, those barely change anything.

    1. More interaction between Free Companies, this can be done in many ways. Guild Tournaments, company points, actual company leader boards.
Please no, i've had enough "<mexico> has declared a guild battle against <taco>" spam back on other MMOs with the system, like tera. Besides, Grand companies are a remaining of the past that SE kept by for pvp and theme, there isn't much on them besides that. Not to mention, xiv strongpoint it's the pve, not the pvp.

    2. Gear/weapon stats and sets.
Sets are a mistake. They force you to grind the whole set just to gain the whole buff effect. The current system is fine where you can mix raid gear with tome gear for absolute BiS. Just imagine having to deal with the weekly lock every single week just to gain a small % to a skill effect when the content is already obsolete, it's bs.

    3.The Overworld.
This game has the most active overworld of every single game i've played on the past 10 years. Yes ofc you won't be seeing a bazillion people on every single area, but you'll always come across a player or another if you look around. Gathering, fates and overall quests making you return to old areas make the overworld more lively than what most games do where you level out that area and never visit it again.
Also about world bosses. They do exist and they need to be buffed, they die way too fast since old ARR hunts are still sync'd to 50 and level 60 players just burst them out in seconds. Same for S ranks.

    4. Stats.
Substats do need a revamp. Determination and spell/skillspeed weights are so low that the stats are almost completely irrelevant and accuracy keeps being shoved down our throats for some reason with the players who actually care about endgame being the most punished by it.

    5. This one everyone wants, Character Customization.
PS3 limitations, for example, the current miqo'te character options completely take up the available memory for customization for that race. PS3 support was already said that is going to be dropped by 4.0 so we'll see what happens.

    6. Dungeons Raids and Trials.
Adding more people to dungeons don't make them more fun, what they need to do is up the difficulty like how they're doing with the weeping cith of mhach.
Dungeons like hullbreaker isle HM were a mistake regardless how some people say they like it. Having multiple damage sponges between gates that do nothing but spam autos and a occasional aoe isn't fun to fight again. Halatali HM had the same idea behind it and yet it was fun to run where every skill level could work around as they wished, now hullbreaker isle hm just forces players to play at the lowest level of skill.

    7. New content.
They're always trying to add up new content, so maybe one day, who knows.

    8. Better potions.
The game is designed in a way that makes potions useless already, the game wants you to not be self sufficient outside overworld environment. The only relevant potions are stat increase ones with ethers only being used by healers as a extra source of mp and BLMs for triple flaring. Shared potion cooldowns prevent stat potion stacking where people would get a inside amount of a main stat by spamming all tiers of potions.

    9. A new gatherer or crafter.
Like adding more people to instances the same applies here, crafting/gathering doesn't need more classes. Each field is already covered as it is, whats needed is less weekly caps like it was back on ARR, they're on the right path right now with most of the relevant stuff being on blue scrips.

    10. Tomes.
The time wall is there to stop new players from being overwhelmed by veterans when they join. How many korean MMOs can anyone start now, get to level cap and be completely overwhelmed by the gear gap between you and the average midcore player, not even going to talk about hardcore, those will surely not have just hundreds of hours invested but also hundreds of dollars for higher upgrade chances and such.
The gearing wall also adds another barrier of difficulty on endgame content where you don't get to tackle it from day 1 at the max ilv, instead you'll slowly grow stronger while you progress through the fight.
