the selling of goods isn't, but the actual crafting and gathering is solo.Gathering and crafting are as far away from solo content than can possibly be. You do not exist in a vacuum in this game. Crafting and gathering are both very much collaborative effort, even if you are physically by yourself.
It's the main appeal of actually playing the game for me right now. All this money I have? Gear I've obtained? It's a sign of status within the community. I don't play just for myself, I play to show off everyone else what I have accomplished.
This fact makes the game automatically a niche. That's not a negative- that is something that should be embraced and used to its full potential.
Not really. The levels just give a really solid indication of the creature's ability. There's no arbitrary +'s and -'s applied simply because of level differences, power differences are there solely based on stat differences and abilities.
Says, once again, some level 50.
You gather and craft for the purpose of participating in the economy, possibly making a living.the selling of goods isn't, but the actual crafting and gathering is solo.
It's all interconnected together. Even soloing in combat situation usually enables you to participate in the economy, so nothing in this game is truly "soloing" when it comes down to it.
That said, most new players have a problem because they don't realize this. You don't exist in a vacuum where monsters drop gil and items which you sell to NPC's as well as buy new equipment from NPC's and quests and craft and gather for yourself and nobody else. In a world where other players exist for the sake of existing like if you were living in New York where there's people around you but you are still pretty much alone, interacting only when absolutely necessary.

My personal experience has conditioned me to believe that such solicitations usually end with me being left "holding the bag" with a half-completed quest while the others involved quietly whisper, "F*** you, got mine" and quickly extradite themselves from the situation, so you'll forgive me if I want to spend my remaining 10 minutes doing my own thing.
If you want solo then you should probably just wait until jobs come out. You have to understand the dev team has to take in information and then make content for it, when the forums first opened up some of the main concerns were the game was too solo centric and there was almost no reason to party, they shifted this in the opposite direction, and I think somewhere around jobs it will be balanced. I don't personally get why people in an mmo solo, even I have barely time, a real life, and a real work to do for college, there still going to be someone on to party with and if not you just craft, and if not that, then I don't log on. I just couldn't imagine an mmo without social relationships, but that's just me didn't play much of the new mmos.
Leves are for solo play. You can easily get 50.000exp/hr once a day with leves. Behests also give HUGE exp now.that's fine, partying gave you more SP then solo in the past too and it is the same in every other mmo. But now solo is pretty much dead... if you are masochist and want to grind your life out then you will enjoy the new solo.... as for the rest of us well we want to have the option to do what the hell we want! I don't have time to spend hours with a party and yes even tho' it is quick to form a new party, i don't like playing with them for just a short while and having to ditch then. I just don't have that much time anymore.
Sorry, but if you want to grind solo, that's your problem. There are different ways to get your exp (solo) extremely fast.

It amazez me how some think they know the world.LOL Maybe you should learn to comprehend what the abbriviations MMO mean. By definition this is a multiplayer game. They make tons of solo one, and its cry babies like you who ruin the multiplayer experience by playing multiplayer games than crying and whining for it to be like the thousands of solo games out there.
Producer can right all the leters he wants. It does not make it less "multiplayer" by fact and definition. Its also statistical fact as shown at mmorpg.com that solo players in MMOs quit earlier 50%-80% earlier then those who indulge in group play.
So statistically, soloers who have tons upon tons of solo games want to ruin MMOs to suit there needs just to end up quiting.
So fail more.
It's a multiplayer indeed which does not mean you HAVE to play with others.
It just means it's an ONLINE game. Does not have anything to do with soloers wanting to destroy the game.
We all know partying is made so easy that an 3 year old would be able to party in an MMo. Now soloing is the hardest part and i like a challange not going to lvl 50 in a week with powerleveling like it does in all Party's.
So before you open your mout with wannabe trol posts maybe you should play the game like it should huh ?
I never said anything about destroying the game for party's i said ti lower mp costs from 75 to 50 or give us some real potions.
I don't see how that destroys your party game as its already easy peasy.
You take a game way to serious..Gathering and crafting are as far away from solo content than can possibly be. You do not exist in a vacuum in this game. Crafting and gathering are both very much collaborative effort, even if you are physically by yourself.

It's about having fun.
People that like to showoff often do a faceplant.
