Any speculation of what apartments will cost?

My guess? Somewhere between the FC room and a small house. Let's say 1-2 million?

Hopefully they'll allow garden plots that allow crossbreeding and not just flower pots. Not holding my breath on that one. Given the housing shortages on legacy and high pop servers, it would help a lot.

If you think that the initial cost of a housing plot is expensive then you have no business buying one in the first place. Wait till you go to decorate it! I have more Gils worth of furnishings than the plot and house cost. Houses are a crafter's endgame IMO.

Same here. You can furnish your home, technically, with things from the GC and housing ward vendors and get the basics (aetheryte, gardening, stables), but you can't get the extra spiffs doing that.

May of been inactive for a year which is because I moved to Japan. Had to sort my life out. Get a full time job. I'm 31 not a student I do not live at home with perants. I'm not at uni studying. Been trying to to level DOL and DOH but it becomes boaring and a chore and I lose interest.
I'm not gonna get angry I knew I was gonna get all the rich people in the game that probably own small or Medium house and have like 6 mil or 10 mil in their pocket leaving a comment in this thread.

Lots of players have full time jobs as well. You losing interest in money making opportunities such as gathering/crafting does not equate to housing being expensive. It's like saying you can't afford a house IRL just because you lost interest in going to work and get your monthly salary. Sacrifices have to made to get what you WANT. Be it in IRL or FFXIV, same rule applies, work for what you want. Alternatively you can purchase a FC private chamber, or wait for private apartments to be out (by the time you should have saved plenty to furnish the interiors the way you want it as well).

Yes you can totally rant all you want, you have the rights to do so. But doing it in a public forum would definitely result in backlashes, which you should have had in mind before posting.

To make money you need to invest time in the game to level gatherers or crafters. This can be done slowly but needs to be a focus over time. There is a ton of gil to be made when these are leveled and used wisely. Even war/magic classes can be used to farm expensive mats for minions and more. 3 million gil is nothing in this game. Personally I'm surprised they didn't raise prices instead of lowering them.

Is it through dungeons only? And how long have you been saving for a house? Also keep in mind Ishgard apartments are coming in 3.4

I respectfully disagree with that comparison. =) Admittedly it's become a little better now that they (mostly) lowered the initial housing prices. but... It's more like all houses IRL are sold by the real estate agency (not by the previous house owner), and said agency sets the price based on the "average income" in your country. Due to some people having extremely high incomes, that average ends up being a lot higher than what 50% of the population earns. This means that for those people ending up below the "average", in particular those at or close to minimum wage, houses are way too expensive.

Would a thread with the focus being on "help me find better ways to earn gil" have gotten a more positive response? Probably (you never know with these forums ^_~). But it's also very easy to figure that out when you're not upset and/or frustrated that what you want is out of reach.

Again, I'd like to disagree ^^; Availability is a problem not because of the pricing. Availability is a problem because they decided to add players to the FC housing system (after saying it would be a separate system), meaning that on a large-population world they'd have to add over a thousand* wards in each city state to even begin to cover the population. But even before that, they added too few houses for the number of active FCs.

It reminds me a little bit about the situation where I live, but with rented apartments. There are way too few apartments, and since I live in a "University City" (i.e. a large number of students) it's usually not an option to buy a house or a flat. They've started building more the past few years, about five years later than they should have, and the pricing on the 'new' apartments (and on all apartments in general, since rent goes up faster than salaries/wages) is ridiculous. But they can set those rents because of the high demand. Would the availability become better if they raised the rents even more? Or would the availability become better if they built more apartment buildings?

Of course, our characters don't really suffer as such by not having a house, not like the IRL situation above. But certain content (chocobo dyeing, cross-breeding plants, FC airships) is locked to people with a house, so it's a disadvantage when not even all active FCs can get one. Let's hope it gets better once apartments are released, especially if a number of players decide to get rid of their personal houses in favor of an apartment. =)

Unless person is on a poor server the game pretty much rains gil down on people if they put any effort into it. I don't really think anyone would be complaining about the price of housing if it was instanced and enough for everyone. Ultimately price is not the issue availability is.
