are you arguing to argue lol
I am not arguing against immersion, i was informing you of the flames i revived advocating immersive leveling.

I think that's a separate problem, and one that's not necessarily a rule. If I enjoy something that takes more effort to accomplish than something that is easier time to accomplish, but I don't have as much fun doing it, then I'll pick the more difficult path. I'm not advocating for the removal of grind. I think it's a necessary part of an MMO, but it shouldn't be the only option.Well, the problem with that is, when the easier path exists, it's the one that becomes the default. Like I said earlier, if easy exists, very few people choose hard. It's the developer's job to make it so that kind of problem doesn't occur, and within this genre, removing one of the classic staples is not the way to do it.
edit: Sorry Bled. Misunderstood.
I agree, there should be varied options for leveling; grind, quests, dungeons, etc., but none of them should be a significant shortcut over all the others, which is what we seem to be presented with in this game now.I think that's a separate problem, and one that's not necessarily a rule. good deal ^^ was hoping we would get that cleared up lolI think that's a separate problem, and one that's not necessarily a rule. human nature:
exhibit A - hard way
exhibit B - easy way
most people take the easy way, yeah your right there are people who like hardcore time consuming difficult content. However if the easy way is present a VAST majority of people will seek the easy way thus belittling the people who chose the hard way. 95% of the population would just go with the easy way where 5% are stuck with a crappy population to experience the hard way.
I'm not arguing for some all mighty way a game should be played, I'm still piecing my ideas together my self. However i do not think that an ridiculously obvious easy way should be an option for people, there needs to be a balance of content.

Does that work in reverse as well? Should one option be vastly superior to the other?
Prolonging the leveling process doesn't teach players the necessary skills to be good at their class, it just creates another time sink that many people on this forum seem to be obsessed with. What's funny, is that even if there were enemies that required proper knowledge and skill to defeat, the community would simply ignore them for the easy to defeat ones to level off of.
