hmmm thats should be the diffrence between mastercrafter and cusaul crafter ^^
but yeah you are right the hardest thing is just to reach the minimum stats for the crafts not the craft themself lol
regards small hobbit ^^
The big issue here is that there's no one star crafting gear recipes.
You go from basic 60 right into 2 star 60, so to gear yourself up, it's rather hard. Either you have the money to spare and get geared up or get lucky with base stats and HQ mats, and then the next tier (3 star) is too easy because you'd be in old pentamelded BiS, or you struggle to get the stats for 2 star (with basic gear mostly) and barely make it. There's no middle ground. I'm one of those who struggle right now, because I took a break during the debacle of overpriced crafting gear (still going for millions, guys, and it's not even BiS anymore) and red scrips bs that nobody asked for.

The middle tier is ilevel 150 white stuff at level 60
Correctly melded you can do any 2* with any class it's a bit hard at the beginning but the more you craft the easier it get
That's 60 crafts, though. 60* have no crafting gear; that's what I mean by middle tier. Before Heavensward, you had class-specific sets as 50*. And they didn't even need a Master book either. Melding is annoying enough for our wallets as it is, especially because crafters and to a lesser extent gatherers are the ones that use the most materia with the most waste because of overmelding, so overmelding 60 starter gear just to be able to make a set that you'll meld to (almost have enough stats to) make a third set that you'll overmeld (again) is a huge pain.
Mate im the same i always have bis stuff and penta but i looked at it and im like hmmmm why do i need this... still hq it with ez so im like na ill just net my 30 40 fibers and every 2 hours and sell them for a mil each even though price is falling. 800k now damn these rush sellersI have zero motivation to craft the ironworks stuff because it seems so easy....does anyone else feel this way?
I guess if we will get recipes that need it (eventually) I will be glad I have it but....it seems like such a let down and easy and idk I just guess I thought there would be more of a gate. They made the other stuff so the people could catch up so I guess I thought there would be more of a reward. I don't mind working for things but by and large this whole thing has left me more MEH than YAY!
Color me disappointed, I guess I just wanted it to be challengingish.
We wont need iron works till 3.4 when 4 stars are added but im going to miss the look of my i170 8 set's well 11 i should say with alt.
But I'm really happy we have a Gathering one I'm also very upset that the augmented stuff looks the same >.<

If I get the mats then crafting HQ versions should be easy for you then... Please look forward to it. ;P
Seriously though, are these really so easy to craft, especially from NQ mats? I'm a newly levelled crafter & don't even have the Serpentskin gear but want to leap straight to Ironworks because it saves armoury space. I want to know if top crafters are going to have issues making it for me.

Also on Ultros with Jade. There is zero rush to get the gear. Its fun to make it fast but, won't have much to do after. I will note on our server, doing this quickly is relatively expensive at the moment. But top crafters on our server have fat wallets so its mostly a non issue. You're not alone, there is no immediate NEED to craft these set pieces... I'm cranking them out with all my own materials, farming Blue Scrips to desynth the ilv 180 gear + Mog Beast Tribe missions. Other players on my server seem surprised, but honestly it's easily crafted Omni-gear and with abundant Type IV Materia it won't even be difficult to meld. Also I don't wear other crafter's gear so I have a few specialist changes to endure, and those need Red Scrips.

I will note I had the worst RNG in two years yesterday making this crap. I kept having 5-7 hasties fail, flawless synths failing too many times, and getting zero usable good procs. Consequently I had to eat a few NQ items. Was really unusual. But the items would have NQed or had to be reclaimed in past patches too if I had that much terrible RNG. IT was also partially my fault for only running around 1500-1800 starting quality. I've been living dangerously since last patch because I haven't had RNG burn me in a long time.

The old stuff took a week to make. It was very labor intensive. That's why it was so much on the MB. It'll come down, eventually, once people realize they'll never get that time back.

I didn't agree with this thread at first, but thinking about it and now that it has been out awhile, I'm pretty disappointed too.
You worked hard to gear up one or two crafters a patch or two ago, and made real bank when midas came out on that sweet 220 gear. That was amazing, your hard work really paid off.
Now...they have these ironworks sets, which only have 1 material that is even slightly difficult, the rest is super easy to buy or gather.
And what is worse, it's not even worth making the set to sell, because each piece goes from 900k to 1.5 mil...which honestly, is a pathetic amount for what is supposed to be the best crafting gear in the game. You won't even make a profit if you were to buy the materials and craft it, because every weaver/goldsmith/whatever specialist can craft them. Hell, selling the crafter specific 170 gear for glamour enthusiasts would net you a bigger profit (if anyone would buy them which I doubt at this point).
The only limitation to making IW gear is specialist lock, and that at least keeps the price reasonably high, but what will happen next patch when they go off of specialist? I can easily see people flooding the market with them and this gear set dropping to 500k a piece on populated servers like mine, or worse, and anyone with even a small to decent amount of gil will have a full geared crafter the instant they hit 60 with no work. It just doesn't seem healthy for progression and economy sake, I guess.
It's just such a ridiculous 180 from how it was , just gearing out your 3 specialist classes took time and effort. You had to spend time farming favors and red scrips and you felt so satisfied when you got that awesome looking gear for your favorite crafter job, and you felt special because so few other people had it, but this is just... "Oh yay an ironworks piece, that was easy."
Keep in mind I'm not saying buying your way to best in slot is bad, either, but I do think that the best in slot should at least be a little valuable and not be something everyone can get with literally no effort. Maybe they should have implemented a way to upgrade the 170 gear we made instead, or make the materials for ironworks actually difficult to come by, but this is just bad. Next patch everyone and their mom is going to be a 4 star crafter and it's going to destroy the economy.![]()
