Aye, lvl10 on LNC, lvl7 on LTW. Reading comprehension can take one far!
You can check my character to find out yourself too. Or you can keep on trolling.
I'm so terrified of what the "vets" think of me. Oh no, people who have 5 classes at 50 don't agree with me! Really, I could care less what a bunch of people who have been sitting at 50 for months think. This thread was to post how I feel low levels have suffered from the patch. If you don't agree with it, that's fine. I've seen it firsthand from actual experience and I'm just not happy with it. If the rest of you are, awesome. Enjoy your shitty game. I'll play something that's actually fun and rewarding. But for The Twelves sakes, dont throw yourselves to the wolves by posting your legit questions in the form of a cryfest. The vets around here will eat you alive.
And just to reiterated, I'm not a newb. I have a character at 50 and know how to play the game. Currently it's not fun at low levels for a new player, and I say this from MY firsthand experience. If you don't agree, I really don't give a fuck. I'm not on these forums trying to make friends. I'm trying to point out glaring flaws in the combat system, that I am CLEARLY not alone on based on the fact that there are several threads full of people who are not happy with the low level changes.
To the OP, the best advice I can give you is try and find a good LS. What server are you on anyway?
If you are running leves, or just solo grinding I would recommend trying to do that with a party, you can take our mobs faster without fear of dying. The dev team stated that they wanted solo fights between you and a same ranked mob to take around 30s - 45s and finish with half your life. So that's to be expected.
My best advice would be to pick up a wand for CNJ and/or THM from a vender in the city and level those to 4 to learn cure. I would also level pug to 6 to learn second wind. With cure and second wind you will increase your survivability (sp?) and increase your xp gain.
When you party and chain/link the xp goes up rather fast. And quests tend to give nice boosts to xp as well. I haven't run into any issues, but again I don't have any classes below level 10, so that one part of it.
Further more, the game is balanced for gear with at least one piece of materia, and until that gear starts showing up on the market you're better off picking up a crafting class and doing some crafting leves to help out with your money issues.
Hope any of this was a help.

Shame this had to go to page 3 before someone responds with maturity.
Any active recruiting shells in Saronia? I get so lonely sometimes ;;
Ouch that was painful to read, prepatch would take 1hr max by just killing things, 45 mins if you just chored easy things or 15 mins on leves XD. Ah well least I dont need to do it, sucks for new players though.
Thanks for the pleasant response Delmontyb. While I agree that partying makes a lot more sense, this is more just focused on solo. I guess I was just hoping that this game would cater to BOTH solo and party play, not just party. Oh well, perhaps this game just isn't for me. That's fine, I have other options.
That's funny, because I certainly haven't seen anyone, other than Delmontyb, posting anything constructive. Everyone else just bashed me and called me a newb. Honestly, I don't mind that. I've got a thick skin. It's just funny because I know that most of the people bashing me haven't even TRIED to level at low levels or on a new character, and the one guy who has claims that he has somehow managed to get almost twice as far as me doing the exact same thing in the exact same time. Clearly I must just be a noob though and not know how to target a mob, hit auto attack, and spam WS when I have TP and use second wind when my health is low. Low levels aren't rocket science. There aren't that many options available, so when someone says they are getting twice as far as someone else doing the same thing, it doesn't really add up...newbs learn. noobs whine and ignore the 5+ people around them calmly telling them they're mistaken.
The first mission alone took me that long (which is included in that time).
The cash came in handy.
Honestly speaking, the lvl1 leves only slowed me down. I should have saved them for crafting.

Perhaps this was part of my problem, as I did 4 r1 leves in this time frame along with grinding. But aren't leves SUPPOSED to be the way to solo? Isn't that what Yoshi-P said they were for? It doesn't make a lot of sense that you'd have to simply grind constantly to level.Honestly speaking, the lvl1 leves only slowed me down.
At higher levels, yes. The mechanics definitely change as you level up.
I'd save them for later, lvl10 or 20 perhaps.
