XI only had a massive amount of story to go through in each of its expansions. CoP locked its endgame behind that story. RoZ locked its endgame behind the story. And XI didn't really have a "current endgame" model. All endgame stayed current. The point is I found things to enjoy in a heavy PvP game, just as I have found things to do in a game with loads of story. Let people do what they enjoy, and you will have a much happier player base.
All of this reminds me of another story-heavy MMO, XI. XI had a massive amount of story to go through, but the key thing is that it didn't force you to complete it all before you could participate in the latest end-game content.
I've come to the conclusion with XIV that they put so many caps and road blocks in the way because their actual content just cannot hold up. So hey, maybe you all are right and they should actually keep the MSQ requirement in place.
