Lack of male/masculine glamours.

Is a lack of male glamours still an issue in this game? I know in the past when some new item would come out that the females got like 2 new dresses for "girls only" or something and maybe the guys got nothing that was "male only".

I know someone brought up like a lack of men being able to wear the female dresses and bra tops and stuff but that's kind of a separate issue so I'll leave that to it's own separate thread that exists. I'm kind of indifferent to it.

Last I looked it seems the tide has been changing as far as male glamours recently. Last major crafting patch there were a bunch of male only new items added. I tried to put the snazzy new male doublet thing on but it wouldn't let my character... ; ;

I haven't really seen the list of items for dudes versus for girls. Is it really such a huge gap? I never did the math.

To compare there are more female gear than male gear. I honestly don't wear the female gear only, but they should make more male gear, most of the female only is nothing but fan service imo.
Make more male gear and if they do, they should also make more gear thats ''manly'' on females too. Cba to wear bikini on tank class :P.

They are not the same group of people. You can generalize and point at them if they are different ppl asking for different things.

I want more gears for males. We need the same amount of restricted gears as females, too.

I see a lot of people asking for 'manly' or 'masculine' gear yet I do not see many people giving any suggestions or examples as to what they consider either of those two things. How manly and masculine is VERY subjective, without any examples for what people define as such for themselves then there isn't much SE can do to satisfy you because they do not know what will do so. Personally I think there is a vast amount of manly armours and glamours in this game so I don't consider this a problem, I am also not paranoid or insecure about my gender identity enough to whine about things being not 'manly' enough. The only problem I see about the issue is the ratio of gender locked gear but SE I think are trying to do better with that of late. In the end for the OP and others in here...if you want SE to take you seriously I think you need to stop hiding behind the terms 'manly' or 'masculine' and start giving them solid actual examples because it is way to subjective otherwise for them to do much about it.

I think what many want isn't so much gear that's hyper-masculine but rather... especially for casters, there's so many poofy goofy looking robes... many in wildly bright pastel colors. Casters basically almost always end up with a "dress" of some sort and not all guys wanna wear a dress ya know? Archers and Bards also seem to have quite a number of flamboyant choices for chest pieces, again often in some less than manly color schemes. Dyes can help (if the item is dyeable), but it doesn't really help when you're stuck in a dress most of the time. Even several of the DoW armor's have long tunic-like chest pieces... some, again, almost dresses themselves.

When I think of masculine, I think of something along the lines of the Cid outfit, Miqo'te male starter gear, Au Ra male starter gear, and the Roegadyn male starter gear. What makes those pieces stand out? Well for one, they aren't friggin dresses or long tunics or bulky potato-sack-looking robes. The Hyur & Elezen male starter gear are very gender neutral and I like them a lot too, but, again, more tunics.

Look, I'm a guy who appreciates a boy in a dress from time to time, heck I'm a huge fan of RuPaul's Drag Race... but I don't always want my character looking like last seasons contestants ya know? I'm supposed to be fighting the forces of darkness and saving the world, not working the runway and lip-syncing for my life. It would just be nice if we had more options of the less poofy, goofy, pastel, tunic/dress variety.

Dragon Age 2's main character had a set of mage specific armor... and it qualifies as masculine in my book:

I'd be more inclined to play a caster character if we had more options like that.

@nicodemus_mercy what you want is a more fashionable outfit. Don't take me wrong. I played dragon age 2 male and female character and that gear set just look badass, but it is not appropriate. In the end, we fall in category of give us more glamour options. With that said, I would like that to be for male-only.

I thought I made it pretty clear in my post that there ARE things in FFXIV that fall into what I consider masculine. Just because I didn't include screenshots of them doesn't mean I am asking for DA2 clonewear. The DA2 pic was just an example of a mage not in a dress.

If you read my post you'd see my primary criticism is being stuck in a dress/long tunic virtually all the time with only a small selection of glamour options that aren't. "Fashionable" is subjective but that hardly means "fashionable" goes against the FFXIV aesthetic. FFXIV can and has done what I consider "fashionable" already so you can't really say its not appropriate.

Again, as I said in my previous post, see these outfits (from the game itself so obviously appropriate)? Not dresses. Not long tunics. And that's just starter gear! Imagine if we had more stuff like that!

Again, those Clothes are very trendy style. You just read my post and decided to take as if I were trying to say something I am against you. I know those clothes are what you WANT; pants and shirts for male mages/casters. I don't see it wrong. I don't even say; no to it. i wouldn't mind seeing that. What I think would be good and still be masculine is to get some of the ornaments off that are useless like those metal pieces on the sleeves (for miqote), the useless leather belt wrapped around the torso (for au ra), and turtle neck and add or take off the shoulder protector (for roe)
