Once again, people manifested an overly optimistic and COMPELTELY impractical best case scenario without giving a single iota of thought... AND complained about it.

For people dissapointed, consider for 30 seconds what it would have been like if it was all translated live. (Which some of it even was!)

4-5 translators for all the languages watching the twitter feed, then having them translate into JP give the question to Yoshi, then you would need another translation for all languages, otherwise they have no idea what is going on, and finally the answer in all languages once again.

This would have slowed down the interview and would have reduced the number of questions available for Yoshi to answer.


I just can't help but feel sorry for the devs that such a vocal part of the community has such incredibly harsh reactions without putting forth the slightest effort in using their brains at all.

seriously everyone that assumed that it will be 3 different channels with 3 different live translators in realtime in 3 different languages or even realtime subtitles is living in a dreamworld, the twitter translations were good and all that we needed, be grateful we even get the info and every important part of the letter was translated with minimal delay, back in the day of early XI most stuff was japanese magazine exclusive and noone translated it.

Nah, because I've watched E3 streams before, none of them were translated into Japanese by the big western sites. Heck none of them were even streamed in Spanish given the huge Latino population in the US. None had subtitles, but they did have transcripts (much like SE did with Twitter) in a different language.

Again, it's common sense that the stream would be in Japanese, much like if Blizzard says they're going to stream something regarding WoW do you automatically assume it will be in Swedish? Or would it make more sense that their stream is in English given their Dev team is English..?

I dont get why people thought they'd be English translators on the video, what what difference does it make if its on video or on the website the video is being played? Non what so ever, its on a different bit of pixels?

It would be slow and silly to translate every Q and A into 3 other languages each time, we'd of got about 1/5th the information we did lol. And on screen stuff? Bah to much hasstle to setup, no need. Twitter is fine! It was perfect. The only issue I had was they had to shorten answers, but fortunately the community at Pads posted them in chat for people to see who cannot view twitter at work.

Works both ways, if I see a Polish movie in my cable guide I have never ever had the smallest doubt that it will be in a language that 99% of the subscribers can understand.

It's not about the stream being japanesse only, but about SE not caring to mention it.
