Problem has been stated in previous comments, when housing came out Square Enix intended it to be a gil sink, so that currency get destroyed from the game. As said by Youkulm, there is not enough gil sink and people are getting richer and richer every day. I think Square will adjust the prices in the same way as when housing came out, so that the gil sink works again.
If you remember housing patch, most FC could not afford any house, and housing plots remained up and available for months, prices had the time to go down to the minimum price (half the price) before someone had the gil to spend on it. If they want it to work again that way, I think doubling prices won't be enough and we're more talking about x5 or even more, at least on my server.
People are buying everyday allagan replicas and other glamour stuff at the price of half a house, that's saying a lot about their purse status !
If you remember that patch, and the housing numbers it came with, you'd know how badly that turned out. The prices on the houses were insane, and there was a good reason why the housing prices were decreased by a lot.If you remember housing patch, most FC could not afford any house, and housing plots remained up and available for months, prices had the time to go down to the minimum price (half the price) before someone had the gil to spend on it. I also don't think a big one-time purchase works all that well as a gil sink. A better gil sink is taking something that's used on a daily basis, and adding a small gil price to it.
Take the mini cactpot for example, a lot of players do that on a daily basis. Imagine if they were to replace the cost from 100/200/300 MGP to 500/1,000/2,000 gil.
3,500 gil may seem like a small amount, but if 1000 characters were to do this per day, that'd be 3.5 million gil removed from the game. 105 million over the course of a month.
I keep smh when it comes to housing in here, I love many aspects of the game and give se credit on that!.
But housing....just wow. To think Rift has a design that makes housing so incredibly affordable, and available to every single player old or new. A design that does NOT destroy items once placed, that allows for 100% unique and extremely creative designs...with item limits in the thousands, with dimension space allotted that is utterly huge!!!
I still play Rift for the superior housing alone, but it is a shame that ffxiv, game I hoped was going to be more advanced and superior in this regard simply because it is so much newer...has placed the most restrictions, limitations, inflated gouging cost wise, and creative stifling I could ever imagine, all wrapped up into one bad design. ughhh
I feel for everyone tbh, I do. I hope prices do not increase, waiting years for them is enough punishment for those still searching for one.![]()
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
Yeah Nezerius but even after price drop, housing plots were still available for long times and prices had the time to go down every 6 hours.
We'll see but I'm pretty sure it'll be way more than x2, at least for small and medium plot.
I just changed servers, now it's just when my stuff sells, I get my house... instead of relying on the housing black market.
I can still afford a large personal house at max price, according to that list, on everything but legacy server prices. I'm not even that rich, I haven't made gil in years.
Yeah... we need to see prices like this again. Though I still think the max price should be higher.

Basing off the fact that Behemoth is on the 3rd tier of that pricing list, I wouldn't consider 100-125 million gil to be "not even that rich", a lot of players don't have half of that amount.I can still afford a large personal house at max price, according to that list, on everything but legacy server prices. I'm not even that rich, I haven't made gil in years.

Having the new wards with prices that are even higher than the 2.1 prices would just turn those wards into ghost towns. Kinda like how some wards are now, except without any houses.
We should not be basing it on how much people have, but what they can make. It's much easier to make gil than it was back when I made my gil. Most people don't have that much because they put little to no effort into making gil.
Maybe on your server. There is an individual on our server whose whole intention of buying houses, is to own all 9 types of houses! They currently own FIVE HOMES! They also have an insane amount of gil because their life revolves around nothing but selling anything and everything. They cannot do content at all. They buy their wins, which can be proven on their own Youtube channel.
Now I have a decent amount of gil saved up. More than enough to buy a medium house at the ORIGINAL prices when housing first opened up. If they increase the prices, that may now put my chances of getting said medium I have been waiting on for years now, out of reach. And it WILL allow people as the one mentioned above who have unlimited gil the opportunity to buy the other FOUR houses out of their wanted 9, buy more OVER that amount and then resell them. The system is flawed.
