If they raise prices like I expect, then now is the time I have to buy that large... else I won't get one ever.
My initial reaction is that a price reduction is coming, not an increase. Hope I'm right.

Maybe it's an adjustment to rebalance the ridiculous situation where some servers considered "legacy" have much higher housing prices but a weaker economy than predicted.
Hopefully they'll look at all servers & adjust where necessary. What was the economic situation at ARR launch is certainly not the same situation now for many servers.

I'm hoping this, also. At this point, so many years after the game's release, whether the players played the first version of the game shouldn't even have much of an impact anymore, anyway. It'd be about time for them to make it more uniform.
If they raise the prices to ridiculous amounts to keep resellers from buying them all up, though, they'll lose quite a chunk of respect for me, considering they'd be making it equally harder for those who just want their own house to actually get it.
We'll see.
"I'm OK. This rock broke my fall."
It won't really be harder cause lot of people already buy houses for a inflated price just look on reddit there a whole section dedicated to it. Say medium on balmung person pretty much selling their rights to give up the house for 50 million gil and then have to buy the actual plot for 37 million which is 87 million so what would be the difference between buying from a person that just flipping the plot cause of a badly done system or buying directly from the system for 80-90 million?I'm hoping this, also. All the more reason to just allow direct selling... Pay the seller and get the house instead of paying the seller to demolish then having to pay for the lot as well. Plus, it would allow people to just go around buying houses, decorating, then selling a furnished house that looks incredible to someone who otherwise wouldn't have been able to do such a miraculous job at it.It won't really be harder cause lot of people already buy houses for a inflated price just look on reddit there a whole section dedicated to it. Problem has been stated in previous comments, when housing came out Square Enix intended it to be a gil sink, so that currency get destroyed from the game. As said by Youkulm, there is not enough gil sink and people are getting richer and richer every day. I think Square will adjust the prices in the same way as when housing came out, so that the gil sink works again.
If you remember housing patch, most FC could not afford any house, and housing plots remained up and available for months, prices had the time to go down to the minimum price (half the price) before someone had the gil to spend on it. If they want it to work again that way, I think doubling prices won't be enough and we're more talking about x5 or even more, at least on my server.
People are buying everyday allagan replicas and other glamour stuff at the price of half a house, that's saying a lot about their purse status !

Because depending on the server, Medium houses weren't being sold for 80-90 Mil? O.o LOLIt won't really be harder cause lot of people already buy houses for a inflated price just look on reddit there a whole section dedicated to it. Our FC bought a medium in The Goblet on a nice plot, Ward 1 plot 8, for 37 mil. So while you're correct the system is poor, there is a HUGE difference between flipping and paying 80-90 mil for a medium or having a plot available to purchase for 40 or less.

Wow, I guess I never considered prices going up.... I've been saving up for a medium house to share with my fiancé, nieces and nephew for a couple months now and only at 10 million (I live on a "rich" world good population, meaning I need about 20 mil to grab one when it becomes available as they sometimes do). I would be super disappointed if the prices went up and all the housing got gobbled up by resellers. I bought the game for my family for Christmas so I can spend time with them (they live across the country after I moved away for my job). This is the one thing I've been driving for, to put it further out of reach would be a tough blow for me to deal with. I mean, I'm already paying for all of their accounts, give me a break.
*puts optimistic hat back on*
