I mean, what else are we supposed to tell you? It sounds like you're making yourself miserable doing something you don't enjoy. "Maybe you should take a break" doesn't mean the same thing as "quit." It means "hey, you could concentrate on something in your leisure time till there's some new content you want to try out." It's not ideal, but it's also not a bad solution if you're that burnt out on the game. Subs ebb and flow and honestly, a few people taking a break here and there aren't going to break the subscriber base or kill the game because new patches always bring people back. I know a few of my FC mates have been playing LoL together the past few nights for lack of anything they'd rather be doing ingame; it kind of tends to get that way toward the end of patch cycles and I've been considering picking up the game to play with them. Sometimes I'll pick up a game on Steam and dink with that for a few days when I get to the point where I don't know what to do on FFXIV. There's nothing wrong at all with taking a break from the game if it's gotten to the point where you dislike logging in as much as your OP implies that you do.
Pretty much exactly this. When I see threads like this, I feel like people are being overly melodramatic because "the grind" doesn't have to be as boring as a lot of people make it out to be. "There's only 2 dungeons in expert roulette!" okay well there's like 5 roulettes you can run that give you Lore. If you're up early enough, you can get in a few roulettes from Monday before the daily reset on Tuesday and get yourself ahead of the game. You get 10 Lore for achieving some simple objectives in Diadem and Seal Rock gives lore (though the queues really suck for that tbh). If you save your Vath dailies from Monday, there's 30 lore toward your weekly cap on Tuesday. There's so damn many different ways to get the weekly tomes that it barely registers as a grind to me.
For me, it's more about what I feel like doing in any given day, though I admittedly do look forward to reset day. My FC gets together and does Midas Normal in a premade until we all have the drops we want, which is a huge chunk of tomes right there. We also try to run through Void Ark, LotA, ST, and WoD in a full premade. Roulettes throughout the week are generally run with 1-3 friends/FC mates as well. Everything's more fun when you run it with friends. We bird farm, we song farm, we help FC mates that don't have clears on things to get them, we generally just stick together like glue and it tends to make things a lot more fun.
I've only had to do last minute roulettes to meet cap once or twice since HW release. Capping is just that easy to me.However I am the type of person that doesn't worry about capping every week. For example I only do Expert if I have a friend that feels like going so that probably helps me avoid burnout.
