If you worry about skill bloat then start using them bars and them macros. At least on PC with a controller I have 8 bars with 16 possible actions. I only ever use at most 1.5.

Macros sometimes just don't work.. especially on PS4 with a controller. There have been times where I've had to mash the buttons to even get them to click, and the macros were correct.

But would you expect the average player to use macros in order to access all of their skills properly? Should there be a need for the average player to delve into macro territory just to play the game normally?
Naoki Yoshida:
Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/113554 at 1:14:22...Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I imagine the average player wouldn't care about skill bloat or the use of macros and just roll with the punches as they are thrown at them by the devs design decisions. Besides you have 8 separate bars to choose from and switch to on the fly meaning you don't necessarily need macros.
All I'm saying is the option is there and that before complaining and hoping for no more abilities that every player should at the very least explore all options available to them.

I understand where you're coming from but using PS4/controller and switching through any more than a few bars is incredibly annoying. It makes it impossible to play fluently sometimes and even hinders players if they don't place their skills in the correct place (I've misclicked bars before and pressed the wrong buttons causing myself or others to die, simply by accidentally being on my DPS bar instead of heals).
Macros are great but as I said previously, they don't always work. This isn't just me either, I've had other controller players tell me they had to spam buttons to make them work and this isn't ideal.
I don't want SE to dumb everything down completely, I just wish they would consider the difficulty of playing some classes and the skills they give.
Personally I just stick with the Bar 1 and Bar 8 wher I can just use L trig to R trig and vice versa to just access Bar 8 on the fly.I understand where you're coming from but using PS4/controller and switching through any more than a few bars is incredibly annoying. I use 2 or 3 bars depending on what class. Some are a lot worse than others though. Bard is really simple whereas something like Ninja just gets annoying for me. It just doesn't "flow" no matter where I put my skills.
I'd just assign Mug and DWaD to have priority over say Gust Slash or if you are anal about only using those while DE is up put em on Aeo Edge but prioritize them first. Or just slap em on Jugulate.
Only thing I have issue with is I just macro the buffs like IR and B4B together. Since the Mudra's pointlessly take up space is likely the reason we controller players even me on PC have to scoff a little bit.
Honestl;y the whole Mudra thing is just hiding an Ogcd skill behind a 3 step sequence.

I also play on PS4
1. Setup the bars into combat bars (only switch between specific bars if in fight stance) and idle bars (only switch between specific bars if weapon is put away). For most classes 2 bars as combat bars are enough (32 slots)
2. Setup a 3rd bar you switch to with L1+R1 and R1+L1 if needed
3. No GCD damage skill on the d-pad buttons
4. don't put UI keybinds into a slot. Use a keyboard for them

Thank you, I've tried many things though and I guess the set up I have now feels the most comfortable. I will try this out though.I also play on PS4
