I do really hope the new beast tribes are crafting/gathering related.

Excited for about everything, except maybe Hildy. Though, I know I'm going to be extremely depressed when I log in after the patch and look at all the new crafting gear I can't make or afford to buy.

Yo-Kai is useless content pandering to the Japanese market. Nice to know that my subscription money is going to develop crap like this.

Feel free to think/pretend/assume your sub is used to develop other non-crap content. I would happily use my sub for those "crap"

To me, it was just...MEH.

Some slides were dedicated to just talking about how they're going to be adding new quests (isn't this practically a given for any patch) and the monotony of content release has gotten so bad, I can't really bring myself to be excited about the two dungeons and mhach raid.

There's very little detail about palace of the dead and aquapolis, so I'm cautious about it given their track record with ranked content and fluff content (feast, LoV, etc).

The only thing that really caught my eye was the raid finder, but even then I'm cautiously optimistic in that it'll help players who are in small servers get groups/statics together without having to resort to transfers (leaving for more dead servers).

I do share your concerns, though. I'm very interested in FFXIV's ongoing story and world building but as more and more stuff starts to become like 'Hildibrand' rather than contained within a very specific set of quests I find myself looking back at how I gradually fell out of love with WoW for precisely the same reasons.

Also this. FFXIV is starting to become more of a fantasy kitchen-sink than a final fantasy game to me lately. Something like Hildebrand is enjoyable because of it's place in an otherwise fanstitical setting. Once that starts to become common-place and in-your-face excessively, it starts to lose that identity in the first place and just feels like it's overstaying it's welcome.

My guess is that they're not getting as much funding as they should to develop FFXIV and so they're getting a decent sum for teaming up with other development studios to do mutual collaborations.

I mostly concur with everything you've said but I suspect they actually have ample funds.

We know that ARR alone assured the game's profitability, even after the failed original launch, but Heavensward's profoundly lackluster endgame has made it all too-clear they have no intention of supporting it properly. The days of 2.1 are now long-gone, as they've exhausted their reservoir of 1.0 content to recycle, and either Square Enix has the XIV development team on such a short rope it's systematically impossible to maintain a proper content release schedule from tie-ups with concurrent development and general understaffing (doubtful, given the aforementioned profitability); that they're grossly mismanaging their funds by dumping it into superfluous fluff like that Eorzea Cafe, FATEs in _____ and the various FanFests (possible, given in-game boondoggles like Diadem and Lord of Vermin); and/or that Yoshi is actually a totally inept moron promoted beyond his ability who has no idea how to hire, direct and delegate to staff (likely, given XIV has 5 battle content programming teams consisting of 1 staff member each- a number which has remained static and unchanged since 2.0 despite the game printing money and I doubt even SE are so niggardly as to refuse allotting more milkers to their cash cow).

The Yo-Kai Watch stuff doesn't make me mad but it confuses the hell out of me. >w>
I know Yo-Kai Watch has been really popular in Japan and that they're trying to push it in the West but it feels kind of out of places.
Granted, we all can wear giant piles of smiling, blue slim on our heads... σ w σ

when 1st heard about yokai i was hyped thinking was gonna be the next pokemon but had my doubts since it was from level 5 on it being great since ni no kuni disappointed me so much .. they have habit of making 50 monsters then just reskinning them all n saying 160 plus catchables after playing the game for n hour relised it was more suited for my 6 year old niece so gave it to her lol wont mind gettin the minions but thats about it

I think everything was fine. I just think the Yo-Kai Watch event is really weird and out of place. But that's one roe's opinion.
