It's 20 attached items from players in your inbox, which can be 4 letters with 5 attachments, 20 letters with 1 attachment, or anything in between.Well you can only hold like 14, 1 per retainer = 8 (better get those extra 6), I believe it's 4 mail with attached item now = 12, 1 in inventory, and 1 opened = 14
Between 8 friends (Probably crafter/gatherer friends for 8retainers) preparing that's 112 chances to enter lol
I plan on having well over 100 when the patch hits, as well as a bundle of wyvern and archeo maps too.
Thoughts: Yokai collab is uselessa and too much time got invested in ugly items. Whatever immersion was left is destroyed for good so you might as well allow cross-class glamours.
Also, this rubs me the wrong way: "It can be played solo; however, it's balanced based on four players, so going in solo from the beginning will most likely get you killed if you're not prepared. There will be some challenge for going solo. "
It's like saying "You can go solo in theory but we will make it so you can't unless you have (once again) grouped with others. That being said, I'll probably try it in duo, see how the feel is and keep my final verdict until then. However, SE once again shows that they are incapable to work with dungeon scaling. This new system would have been the perfect playground to work on that.

The whole mysteeeeeryus handling of the new trial leads me to believe that it will NOT be the next Warring Triad installment. Additionally, they made a point of mentioning that the Dragonsong War ends this patch. This leads me to believe that we will be defeating Nidhogg once and for all - and since we already defeated an underpowered version of him in a dungeon, I think it's logical that the trial will be the battle against the fully-powered Nidhogg. Likely the Extreme version will be a Minstral's Ballad take on the same fight. I also think that it's likely that he'll shapechange between dragon and Estinien forms over the course of the fight, which could be interesting.
I find it interesting that they explicitly stated that Dragonskin maps will be the source of the new map dungeons. I sort of expected they'd be adding a new map for the purpose. Still, them stating it this early means I'll have time to dig up maps for all of my retainers, my friends, and my friends' retainers.
The Yokai Watch stuff doesn't bother me, exactly, but it does confuse me a bit. While I'm sure there's a lot of cross-demographic appeal, Yokai Watch, like Pokémon, really seems targeted at a younger audience than MMOs like FFXIV are. When I think "typical Yokai Watch" player, it brings to mind a 10-12 year old, while "typical FFXIV player" tends to skew more towards 18-20.
Palace of the Dead... I'm trying not to get too enthusiastic about it. I very much want it to be great, but I've been let down before (Hunts, Diadem, I'm looking at you!). The Weapons of Light you get there, though, look interesting.

Lets see....
MSQ: Excited!
Beast Tribes: Nice!
Hildy and Relic: Don't care much about Hildy, I didn't even start the 2.0 story yet. And can't wait to see what they will do with the new step even though I just started my 3.0 relic.
New Dungeons: I am always hyped for nee dungeons but hope they won't put Antitower and Lost City HM in the lvl 60 roulette.
New Trials: Awesome, can't wait what it will be this time!
New Void Ark: Yay, can't wait.
Aquapolis: Don't really care but nice either way.
The Deep Dungeon: Can't wait to go in there!
PvP map: Don't care.
Housing: I might finally be able to get a house or a place!
Yo-Kai: Don't care but kinda like the cute mount.
Im pretty excited for this new patch, can't wait to see how the Dragonsong War will end!

only new dungeons will ever be in expert roulette - old ones will be put in 60 roulette.
tome rewards will be adjusted.
new dungeons will probably be around ilv 210.
My guess is that they're not getting as much funding as they should to develop FFXIV and so they're getting a decent sum for teaming up with other development studios to do mutual collaborations.
I do share your concerns, though. I'm very interested in FFXIV's ongoing story and world building but as more and more stuff starts to become like 'Hildibrand' rather than contained within a very specific set of quests I find myself looking back at how I gradually fell out of love with WoW for precisely the same reasons.
It's not the end of the world but...I just hope the storytelling becomes incredible as we move forward. If they reduce Garlemald to being a generic evil empire, for example, I'll probably just take my leave of the game altogether. If they make it morally grey and with redeeming elements that we align ourselves with, though? I'll be very happy.
