If people don't care because they don't come on the forums then why is it affecting them if they unlock gear to all genders?
If they cared that much I'm sure they would come and express their opinion.
Oh I see, so which did you mean by "girls"? As in female characters? On a side note, I am a male and play a female character =PBecause not all female characters are played by females; trying to denote between "female characters" and "female players" before someone gets all crazy up in here and starts turning this into a feminism thing (which would actually be pretty hilarious because I'm a girl playing a male character, lol). I guess it makes it more confusing than anything. Meh.
Again, I am all for equality - if people want something, I see no reason why SE shouldn't implement it. I can just see from a dev resource standpoint that they need to pick and choose and cut things accordingly. It is quite possible that certain glamours are made gender locked, as they did not foresee many people of the other gender wanting that option. Therefore the dev time commitment was not worth it. It's also possible that i am very wrong on this and that the dev team is full of bigots![]()
What was the purpose of this thread other than to further bloat the number of identical threads about the gender locking and increase awareness of the problem? Are you secretly on our side?
Not only do male rabbits exist, but sexy male dancers who wear bunny ears also exist in the real world (like the female versions the in-game bunny ears reference). It's cool, nobody's forcing you to fantasia, buy them and equip them.
There's also no evidence they'll just force the female versions of gear onto male bodies without refining them to look good, just like they do with all of the female+unisex pieces 'girls' can wear in the game - my female Miqo'te buddy still has her breasts and hips in the right places when she equips her best 'man' costume. Please relax.
i am aware that
purpose of this thread is to give feedback. it may be different for what other want it to be, but it is feedback all same.
on personal note i think all gender unlock gear should put in the mog station. if you want waste the dev time fine you going pay for the gears out your own pocket.

Yeah, anytime I'm discussing glamours and I refer to "females" it's basically shorthand for "people that play female characters" because the second one is clunky as hell. Given the track record, I'm just waiting for someone to go all tumblr on my ass. xD
Eh, I don't think it's a matter of bigotry. It just seems like overall female characters just receive more attention as far as the dress up/glamour portion of the game goes. Maybe there's a reason for it; I'm not really sure, to be honest. It's almost like they create two outfits, one for male and one for female, then look at the male option and go: omg but this would be so cute on girls too. x3Again, I am all for equality - if people want something, I see no reason why SE shouldn't implement it. I think they should make females pay $15 instead of $8 if they want the Cid glamour. Sound fair?

lol fair enough. On another side note, my sister once asked me if I wished I was a woman - based on that I always play female characters in games. :\ I don't think that is the reason? I'd like to say it is sex appeal, but I even play Peach in Super Smash Brothers.
Perhaps. It's hard to say what goes on in the devs heads. I have often wondered (usually on different topics *cough*diadem*cough*)Eh, I don't think it's a matter of bigotry. How far is too far?
I apologize if this seems harsh, but if you don't want to see something, don't look at it. It's not like seeing a guy walking around in a bikini is going to magically make you gay or something (Han Solo: "That's not how the gay works!"). If it makes someone else comfortable and/or happy, what right have you to deny them? It's not harming you in any way. But don't confuse your distaste with poor artistry. Just because you don't like something does not mean its quality is objectively poor.
If you're worried about gear looking bad on the atypical gender (read: a male Roe wearing a tutu), then I wouldn't. SE has done a very good job of making some pieces of gear look really good on both genders--even the skimpier pieces. Look at the Colisseum gear, or the swimsuit you get with the Cascadier Uniform Voucher; both are equally revealing on either gender (except Colisseum caster pants), and both pieces objectively look good.
SE cares very deeply about the visual aesthetic of the game, and about making sure stuff looks good. If and when they bring gear across gender lines, they'll make sure it looks good.
EDIT: I think a lot of people don't realize that when it comes to matters of sexuality, gender-binary-normativity, and similar topics, Japan is generally pretty conservative when compared with USian ideals. They're trying to cater to a Western audience, but doing some of these things needs to be weighed against how it could be construed in a global audience. It's all well and good to say that they should just stick to their guns and open things up anyway, but they need to consider whether or not doing so will cost them in their home markets. Yes, there is nothing saying users need to use gender-atypical attire, but opening the option could be construed negatively by conservative players, and cause them to lose interest on a moral ground (even as we USians and Europeans may see gender restrictions on gear as amoral). This isn't to say they shouldn't do it--FFXIV is already extremely progressive as Japanese games are concerned, and this would help solidify that reputation--but this is to say it's not as simple as we might think it is.

If you are aware male rabbits exist, and that male dancers also wear bunny outfits, then why are you against it?
As for "waste dev time" I don't think it's any less of a waste than implementing female-only outfits in the first place, now THAT's a waste of time when you reduce the audience that can use it by a large margin, and for absolutely not reason.
I used to always play female characters; then I played a game with genderlocked classes and now I lean more toward male. *shrug*
I dunno why either! People are weird. :3
Yeahhhhhhh, maybe we're better off not knowing. o3oPerhaps. It's hard to say what goes on in the devs heads. I have often wondered (usually on different topics *cough*diadem*cough*)
