A bow is a flexible arc that shoots through elastic or spring energy. Essentially, the bow is a form of spring powered by a string or cord. As this string is drawn, energy is stored in the flexible limbs of the bow equally; the energy is transferred to the arrow when the string is released, projecting it much farther than a weapon could be thrown.

Hooke's Law states that the extension of a spring is in direct proportion with the load applied to it. But beyond that there are practical limitations depending depending on the specific case. In the case of a bow depending on the material it may snap if its pulled back too far. Also, you cannot pull the arrow back farther than its head or you will not be able to control it's horizontal direction, most people might agree that if our char. pulled their arrows back 6 inches behind the bow-as subtle as it may be-it would look completely silly.
This bow in particular contains incredibly dense and organic mass assuming it comes from ifrit, therefore, it's elasticity should be reasonably high but so is the force required to bend it. Therefore, the bow would shoot incredibly strong if there were someone strong enough to actual arch it to its optimal position (unlikely even if you assume your char is as strong as an elephant).
The point is moot however as the difference in density from top to bottom means that the bow will always shoot upward higher than your aim.
It's not so much that it's ugly as much as that it's just a crumby bow. Fancy though i guess like shoes.
