No it isn't (I can name a couple games that currently use just the keyboard)

Blade and Soul & Vindictus (although I hear TERA uses the keyboard as well)

Yes lets sacrifice Intuitive design for innovation, that's like trying to reinvent the wheel.

Yea my point was that if you are happy to use just keyboard that's just fine, nobody is going to stop you from doing that.

It doesn't change the fact that many existing (and the majority of new players) will want standard mouse and keyboard controls.

They certainly shouldn't be taking you as a case study in how to design game controls though, no offense.
