Will we ever get fully realized PC controls?

Ya know, basic stuff? Right-clicking gear to equip it, right-clicking people to do interactions such as party invites, hell how about actually using the mouse in general?

It makes me hate the PS3 release so much because the game is obviously being catered around that more than the PC. It's not even out yet. And of course battle mechanics will be limited to what a PS3 can handle. That might be why the combat is slow compared to every other PC MMORPG, have you tried to select skills by using a controller quickly and effectively? Not happening.

That turned into a rant. Horrible controls and interface does not make for a happy person.

As far as Yoshida is concerned (he has played mouse+kb MMO's), sure.

Then it comes down to whether they can pull it off.

They said a while back they were going to add a drag and drop interface for PC users, we'll have to wait for that before they add right click to equip and what not.

There was a thread in the User Interface sub forum about clicking on text in the chat log to have a pop up box to select options from.

I hope they add all these things eventually including linking items in chat. (a rep commented on this feature from what i remember)

While it all comes down to personal preference most of the time with what peripherals you use, you seem to be making a case of pad controls being difficult and not effective.

This is strange, because it's not difficult at all. All it takes is a bit of patience. Pad users can play at the same level as KB&M players quite easily.

Its not about about preference its about ease of use and intuitiveness, currently this game is being played by a large population of Ex-FF11 players so the bias is very one sided in that aspect.

That being said if SE want this game to be any kind of success they need to cater to the same control set up as other MMO's out there (Korean/Western style ones), its this very reason why SE need two distinct user interfaces which players can choose from through the settings menu.

Give both PS3 and PC users the option between both, you can connect a mouse and keyboard to a PS3 for what its worth.

I played ffxi with keyboard but in ffxiv completely game pad (ps2 controller)

I feel like I can toggle skills and target more efficiently with the controller in ffxiv

I prefer controllers over Key+Mouse except when playing FPS.
