Am I the only one that finds dark knight to Damn fragile for a main tank spot? It's way more nerve wracking than paladin or Warrior.

I only mt if people pass the tanking to me or when I'm a bit pissed if tanks don't know how to tank a certain boss xD The rest I'll just put up Sword Oath and pretend to work hard xD

its because some people choose the class because they think its "cool" rather than actually knowing the basics of tanking. This was the worst when heavensward first came out and I did haukke manor with a dark asking what "grit" was and us wiping on the first pull........

He literally took his armor he got from the job quest, queued for the nearest dungeon, and didn't know anything about his job. He told us this too.

Agreed that if you are the first tank with aggro, you should be MT for it. Honestly, if you are tanking with others in the same raid, be it 8 or 24man, you should speak up and just call it. Otherwise it's assumed you are an OT.

Fighting over aggro and such is childish and just gets messy... both mechanically and verbally.

I recommend playing as PLD or WAR first before going DRK xD cuz DRK's rotation is based on the two basic tanks. I love DRK as ot since most of it's skills are dmg dealing. The only case that I think DRK should go mt is when we face a magical damaged bosses.

In 8-mans, yes. In 24-mans, not so much. You can't see the enmity of the people in the other parties so it's a guessing game as to where exactly you are on the 24-man aggro list.

I personally despise the very concept of an OT role.

Being an OT is like doing half of the job you signed up for. It is absolutely buttocks! Which is often why I will always MT wherever possible and with the ability to Unchained+Berserk, I'm quite confident no one will try and wrest it off me.

And if they provoke after I get pacified... Well I guess I did them a favour with a huge boost in aggro. Lousy Provoke Skill.

So I suppose tanks fighting for aggro could be somewhat of a similar mentality of disdain for the OT role.

Also on a positive note, hearing a lot of these bad tank stories usually indicates that they're new players in the role... And that's kind of a good thing since it means people are trying out and possibly taking interest in the role. Every role will have it's bad apples, but the ones that are genuinely trying to learn, I will absolutely welcome with open arms. More bad tank stories usually = More tank players!

Although I find it strange that there are DRKs that like being OT.... Huh.

Basically for me the "Tank Etiquette" is : (in content where don't know the other tank)

If you are a paladin you mt.
If there two paladin fight to death to be the Main tank. Because even if you talk to them there paladin si they expect to always Mt.

Youre a warrior/dark knight ? enjoy the Off tanking and dps
