Mind, if you're doing a lot of things, then maybe you don't need to do expert roulette every day. But if the content you're doing isn't giving you tomes, then you're forced into expert. When I was leveling my classes all I had time for was expert. And that got old quick.

Is it not? If I'm not mistaken, the best players need tome gear to upgrade to 240 gear in some slots to be fully best in slot. And most players won't play through extreme raids, and that gear will be the only ones that will be upgraded, so yes. That's the best gear they can get.
And don't get pedantic with me. I'd have to double the size of the sentence to be grammatically correct, and even then you'd find something.
So, if you take out all the gear better than the tome gear, then it is the best gear in the game? And then you are basing your argument on that?

Despite bringing up running Alex all night, you don't have any of the current ones gear, and none of the 220 crafted. I'm guessing you haven't even run Midas, which btw, you need to complete A8 seven weeks to get the lore weapon. Actually, running Midas is the only "Required" content for any of the lore gear. By the time you run that, and Void Ark, you are probably sitting around 1/4 of the weekly cap anyway. Throw in a few hunts and other roulettes and you what, run expert 3 times a week?

Also, it seems you are the one that forced yourself to only run Ex roulette by putting leveling higher on your priority list than having fun. You could have had a full 220 set two weeks ago if you had been running Midas just a little bit.

Also, do you even have any idea how you upgrade the lore gear from 230-240?

Ok, then why are you so concerned with getting tomestones as fast as possible? Are you trying to do Savage raids? If not, then you got no reason to be getting gear so darn fast if there's nothing worthwhile to use them on. You got LV60 roulettes to mix up the dungeon monotony, you have trial roulettes that give out tomestones, you got PVP that also gives them out, and you also have treasure hunts that give some tomestones too (which adds up a lot if you got a group of buddies with their own maps). Maybe instead of doing ONLY expert roulette, try doing other content in addition to your expert roulette runs.

I would really recommend taking Colorful's advice and try the Feast. Grab 3 friends, make sure you guys are a tank/healer/melee DPS/ranged DPS, and flag up. A lot of people are doing it right now to farm esoterics for relic. It takes maybe 3 minutes from flagging up to finish and you get 10 lore. I know that sounds low, but it's 10 lore in about 3 minutes. It adds up fast! Plus, you can get PvP glamour gear and esoterics for relic or gearing other jobs.

    ....lol.

Anyway, this is a casual game. I'm fine with whatever since I do do the hardest raids, but SE wants the majority of their playerbase to have goals to aim for without having to do those. It is what it is.

I cap my tomes doing various things throughout the week. I usually queue for expert roulette once per week.

But she has the achievement for clearing A8 normal 10 times almost a month ago, so maybe it's best not to judge someone's experience based on the job currently shown on lodestone. I don't have any midas NM gear on my tanks either. She might have chosen to use those tokens on other jobs, being that she has everything at 60, or maybe she quit running it beyond A8 after failing to win a token 30 times in a row. Not everyone has friends or gil for the crafted stuff either.

Yet she has spent lore on hellfire tanking gear (4-5 weeks worth it looks like) but still.runs gordias gear with it as well.

You know, most of the content released so far can be cleared with ilvl 210-220 if you are good enough. 220 is Midas. Normal Midas is just like LFR in WoW, only better. There is no way you will get locked out without getting a viable piece. If you match that with an occasional lore piece (I end up capping lore whatever I do over the entire week, it is really not a grind, and I am not home till like 7pm every day), you are more than good to go for the current patch as well as the next patch's content (dungeons, normal raids etc). So since you are not doing savage (ppl do savage for achs too, not only gear!), and dislike the thought of statics for the same reasons I do, what is your problem? By the time next patch hits you can be full lore without an effort. There is beast tribes, an occasional dungeon, maybe help out a friend, feast etc. And of course they will make it so that you can obtain higher ilvl gear next patch (upgraded lore). It's called PROGRESSION. And in this game the progression is significantly faster. Sorry you got used to WoW's snail pace of releasing (shitty) content. But you cannot expect to get the 'best' or the 'most viable' gear without playing the game. They specifically made it so that even casuals can, given time, obtain the highest ilvl available.
