leave it to this community to complain about content....

developers put time and effort into the new weapons and for people to just come right out and complain that its ugly or doesn't fit in the game and they should redo it is appalling.

if u eat an apple and it tastes bad, put it down and eat something else. dont keep eating the apple and complain that it tastes bad after every bite. its sad.

Honestly. We have every right to complain. We want the game to do well and we'll do our best to try and guide the developers down a path we think will be best for the game.
But it doesn't mean we can't be mature about it.

it is this sense of entitlement that bothers me. developers are doing a job. they don't owe us anything nor do we owe them anything. i understand that you don't like how they look and im o.k with that. i can agree to disagree. but ur basically trying to tell picasso to use a crayon rather than a paintbrush because u feel like it would look better.

me, also being a developer, i see my work as art. im not bothered if people don't like the concept or how it looks, thats part of criticism, but for people to try and tell me what is best for me and my company is offensive.

im fine with your opinion of how they look. just dont go up in arms trying to force them to change it after they put a lot of time and effort into designing and developing the weapons. not unless ur the lead developer of course, then u can do what u want

Calling BS on you being a developer. As a developer you OWE your customers a good product. That is how you'd still be a developer. Also by your logic, we shouldn't have whined that FFXIV was complete crap 1 year ago because, as you yourself just said, we shouldn't have gone "up in arms trying forcing them to change it". No, the dev team is held to a standard set by the people who are going to buy/buying their product. If they do not meet those standards they will probably find themselves getting fired by the parent company.

i think he just meant that some people come off as if their opinion and theirs alone should have a direct noticeable impact on the development of the game.

ive seen just as many people say they generally like the ifrit weapons and cant wait for more as ive seen complaints. the developers themselves plus about half of the forums like the weapons, so who are they not satisfying at this point?
they cant satisfy everyone, but i know looots of people who dont play who might after seeing this part of the update.
they might actually think they game looks cool rather than pretty or how possibly real you can get.

yes its our jobs to develop a game that people want to play. but it speaks more volume when a large population quit after the first month than it does when a group of people try to say they are speaking for the majority and say that its wrong or its not working.

i recieve criticism and feedback daily from my team and at the end of the day, thats the only opinion i will listen to. not everyone is going to appeal to the game but if ur constantly changing something because one client wants this and another wants that, u will never be done. my job is stay with the direction of my team and stay true to the game. cause at the end of the day, its my time and my effort that i am putting in. people will either love or hate it, its just part of the business.

I highly doubt that these weapons took long or much effort to make, I still think it just looks like they lopped off ifrits horns from his .dat and merged them with existing meshes.

i kind of wonder this as a FFXI modder.
Yoshi himself said it takes 6 months to create one set of armor. this is absurd to me because meshes can be copy and pasted and textures shouldnt take long at all to create.
it led me to believe that this time includes every process from market planning to actual implementation and not just the modeling.

Considering we purchase said product and they have allowed us to give our own input on the direction via these forums, I think it's fair to voice our views on whether or not we like something.
They do owe us a good game as they have promised with the change of development.

I, as someone who studies art, feel like I should be able to voice my opinions and views with how the art direction might effect the game overall. I'm not saying that I know what's best for the company, but people needn't be chastised for suggesting a certain direction might not be best for the game or the company. We should be able to discuss these things freely and maturely without someone telling us we're simply not allowed to talk about it.

Artistic continuity is important in any piece of entertainment. I'm mostly okay with these because they make sense contextually. Gear made from the bones and horns of a fiery primal are bound to look organic and fiery. It's just a little odd against the rest of the equipment we already have.

i agree with you and we should be able to voice our opinions. what i am not a fan of is when someone tries to "play" lead developer and want to change the direction of the game because they don't approve of something.

leave it to the developers to do their jobs and if its not working, they will adjust accordingly. not because people outside of the team is telling them to.
