"Unbelievable wipes... indescribable failings. Whining, bitching, rage quitting - through an endless party find." - Doho, A Whole New Whorl

You guys need to stop making petitions for every single stuff you don't like... this game is getting really good, let Yoshi-P and his team develop the game

All I'll say is I am so, so glad they don't seem to glow in passive mode. I'm not too enamoured with the designs myself, I do feel they're kind of ugly beside the more discrete generic forms and probably won't ever use them or their like. But.. still, the developers won a lot of brownie points with me by at least making the glow sod off outside combat.

Ha! Finally a valid counterpoint! The reason the Ifrit weapons do not fit the current style is because they come from a completely different source.
The continent of Eorzea generally has a type of style for gear creation. This is because the three city states cooperate and share a good deal of technology. These are the ways we know how to make things. A vast majority of our current gear is made by us so it has the Eorzean feel to it. This hasn't changed.
The Garlean Empire similarly has a particular aesthetic feel, most of their gear being red, black or silver and having a much more military look to it. Also they have a penchant for sticking guns in their weapons, something you would never see in an Eorzean style weapon thus far.
Then we have the Ifrit weapons. These weapons are born of gods, the Primals. As such they have (so far) reflected the look of the Primal they come from. The Ifrit weapons are comprised mostly of horns or rocky hide with a subtle ember glow, you can take one look at them and you know they came from Ifrit. These weapons convey the power of the creature they came from. They are the most unique of weapons because they came from a most unique source. My guess is that this trend will continue with the Primal fights, there will be Primal styled weapons.
They are still a little overexaggerated, the archers bow is a bit much.
But maybe, just maybe, these weapons are magical!
The owner does not chose the, but the weapon chooses the owner!
Thus, while an unworthy Eorzean will not be able to wield such a weapon.
If the weapon chooses a worthy adventurer it will make it's mass magically lighter, more accurate and cause devastating damage!
In all seriousness! Stop putting so much realism into my fantasy!
Ever hear of suspension of your imagination?

There are mostly games out there that feature the cartoony art style. Are they really going to abandon one of the few things 14 really had going for it?
In the firestorm of criticism around the launch and early months of the game, the art style was barely mentioned, and usually praised when it was mentioned.
There was nothing at all wrong with the overall art style of the game. It was/is awesome.
Personally I think these designs are really hideous, really out of place in this game world, and if garish, fancy pants designs like this become more common they are going to ruin the beautiful look of the game.
It's not really just about fantasy vs realism. The game is already fantasy style and it's awesome. This issue here is more like fantasy vs foppery.
Some people just want to be a fancy dandy man with a fancy dandy toon playing Final Foppery 14. To that I say...no thank you.
Several Conjurer wands look like they were broken off from tree branches with their leaves still attached to them. Hows that for fancy? Does the leaves look pretty and colorful?

Yes, the original art style was great, just like art from every Final Fantasy game. With the addition of Ifrit weapons the game continues to hold its original realism and style by adding equipment that suits its source in a multi-dimensional magic using, monster filled world. Don't bring your personal asthetic preferences into it, it doesn't make for a convincing argument. There are mostly games out there that feature the cartoony art style. Also, just because you obtain them from Ifrit, doesn't mean they have to look like dead Ifrit body parts! lol.

I like how the iffrit weapons look, too bad you don't.![]()
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
