    Pc to Ps3

Hi everyone! I want to change from pc to ps3, and I know that I've to buy another code for the ps3, but the thing is, I can be able to play buying ARR, Heavensward or I have to buy both again? I have a Heavensward copy on my pc.

    Thank you so much everyone.

You'd have to buy PS3 copies of both ARR and Heavensward in order to play on PS3 in Heavensward regions. (I'm not positive how ARR alone without HW would impact HW jobs or race while in ARR areas.)

I would also consider that the lifespan of support for the ps3 is expected to end with the next expansion. It would be unfortunate to buy a second copy for it to only be usable for maybe a year or more.

Right. You could get away with just ARR and not Heavensward for PS3, but that would mean you could not access any of the Heavensward stuff on your PS3. That would extend to being unable to even log in if you happened to log out in a Heavensward area. And might also mean no XP gained beyond 50 while on PS3.

You mean "expected" as in that some of the wild over the top exaggerations of players believing the "PC master race" meme claim its support should stop. SE themselves only dropped PS2 support yesterday, though. Thinking they're going to drop PS3 support any time in the next several years is a bit ludicrous.

On the other hand, there are a few features that are limited on the PS3 version. A few HUD elements are unavailable. Only the cross-hotbars are supported, but not straight hotbars. You can't use the extended inventory windows that show four tabs at a time. And there may well be more and more such differences as the game continues. It can play the game more smoothly than a lot of low-end PCs can, but there are some things you lose out on if you go for the older console.

(In any case, even if SE did at some point drop PS3 support while the game is still active, they'd almost certainly re-offer the free exchange from PS3 to PS4 like they did when PS4 was released, making the PS3 version the cheapest way to get onto PS4, so hardly a reason to avoid getting it.)

    Regarding future of PS3 version:

Do you plan to continue to support the PS3 version even after the PS4 version is released?

Y: At this moment, we've already begun work on the expansion pack, and I can tell you that at the very least the PS3 version will be supported up to that point.

Does that mean there's a possibility that PS3 users will no longer be able to continue playing beyond that expansion?

Y: It may be a possibility in the future.

How far off in the future are we talking about here?

Y: That will depend on how long people continue to play on the PS3. I've mentioned in the presentation this morning that I want to make sure that "FFXIV continues to innovate", and there's certainly the possibility that whatever innovation we seek will come with certain technical requirements. For example in EQN, which I mentioned earlier, it would not be possible to realize certain things like physic-based gameplay without meeting the hardware prerequisites. So if this becomes something that players want and we start to see people leave for rival products, then we can't just sit around twiddling our thumbs either. After all, we too need to ensure we have the necessary weapons to take on other MMORPGs in the future.

For example, if we were to have a large-scale FATE where players can ride on a flying mount and freely fly around and swoop down at a dragon that is 200 meters long, players would probably be impressed and entertained. However, it would also require us to raise the minimum requirement when it comes to hardware specs.

Our aim has always been to develop the game so that players can have the same experience no matter which hardware they play on. However, if we were to become too fixated on this and become unable to innovate, then this will cease to be a FF game. So I do not plan to say that we will support the PS3 version forever. At the same time, I'm not saying that we'll be ending support by next year or anything like that either, so don't worry.

straight up translation end here. so much work lol

PS3 version will be supported until at least 3.0

While no it isn't neccessarily going to not have support starting next xpac, PS3 support is not going to last as long as XI and PS2 most likely. You are right that they'll probably get another free period to change to PS4, would be very surprised if they don't infact.

I'm just supplying him with information. While yes it hasn't been confirmed, that's no reason for it to not be considered.

Saying it's expected to end with the next expansion is actually supplying misinformation, though. It not only hasn't been confirmed. It hasn't even been suggested as a likely possibility. Sure, it's true that they're leaving the door open to the possibility that they might eventually decide to drop PS3 support at some point down the road. I wouldn't actually be too surprised if they do decide to drop it in five or six years, or once the PS5 comes out. The ludicrous part isn't that PS3 support could be dropped at some point. It's the idea that it's likely to happen with the next expansion.

Why change to PS3 when a crap PC can play it better?

What he said earlier is not "misinformation." PS3 support is very likely to end within the next expansion or so. If you refer to this interview about the current expac at ( http:// game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/interview/20140220_635897.html ) YoshiP clearly states that support will be kept at least through 3.X. Don't flame a guy for warning a fellow player.

Nonetheless, the PS3 is roughly 10 years old. There are people I know who have played FFXIV on it but quickly swapped systems. You'll find it rather annoying for example to load into heavy areas (such as the Diadem, the main hub at prime time, or while rushing to tag an A/S Rank hunt). Keep this in mind if you do switch over.

I would highly suggest the PS4 version if you really want to switch. But don't forget that you can hook up a PS remote to your PC too!
